Central Pet now owns Coralife

Okey ..............now Central Pet owns Coralife ! Thats Kent Marine , Oceanic , All-glass, Ocean systems, Instant Ocean .......and a few others I cant think of right now {its 429am ] Whats left for this company to own that they dont already ? And how can this be a good thing for one wholesaler to own the biggest names in the hobby?

Yeah I heard that last week. I've heard that there are several more aquisitions proposed too... I heard 4 for this year but I don't know what else they are looking to get.

You forgot Marineland/Aquaria Group whose umbrella Instant Ocean falls under.

That's a huge... dare I say it, monopoly in the making!

No not at all. Other distributors still sell AGA, Aquaria, Kent etc., I buy mostly through Royal. The weird thing is that when Royal buys those brands, they effectively pay their competition.

Currently the prices I'm seeing from Royal et al. are competitive, but I wonder if the intention is for Central to eventually be able to lowball and squeeze out the other distributors for those products?

It's certainly a strange situation.
