I just received a PetAlert from PIJAC. Headline "USDA Grants Extention of Comment Period on Birds, Rats, and Mice Rule." The original comment period ran through August 3,2004. To date PIJAC has received virtually no input on the potential impact this rule may have on breeders and distriutors of rats and mice for the pet trade. PIJAC may be compelled to refrain from commenting on this aspect of the proposed rule if the trade does not provide sufficient information. Go to www.pijac.org under breaking news.

Anyone who breeds, distributes and sells birds ,rats or mice for the pet trade may be impactyed by USDA's rulemaking.

I believe it is just a matter of time before a similar PetAlert is issued because of HR4928. I am checking into this and will keep the forum posted. If the marine industry is guilty of the same apathy as the birds and mice people are, we are in deep do-do.

I don't understand why someone just doesn't organize the industry and hobbyists and fight this legislation. After dealing with PIJAC on the Caulerpa bill, frankly I wouldn't put a lot of faith in them getting the job done. Instead of sitting back and talking about how bad all of this is, someone needs to get off their butt and do something for a change. AMDA- yoo hoo..... Here's a chance to prove some worth.

It is too late to fight but it is never too late to reeform.

Wayne it is obvious you are not from our country. Here we would say: "We have not yet begun to fight."

So far AMDA has been an irrelevant organization. I don't know who's AMDA President. I hope is someone different to Robinson.

If Robinson is still there as the "leader", AMDA won't have credibility. The personality of this individual has been detrimental for the MO industry. He has a very bad reputation and NO ONE has been listening to what he has to say. He's rude, he likes to dissociate, is arrogant,... in short... many people do not trust or like him.. His time is gone. AMDA needs a real leader, some one with credibility, carism, someone who respects what others say, someone who can associate. Otherwise, AMDA is going to sink with his "president".

AMDA needs some one who can deliver and put people together. Someone different to Robinson. Robinson is strong in rhetoric but weak in what counts.

Jaime,
Congratulations you just made finalist in the King of Hostility contest along with Steve and John. If this bill passes there will be no further need for AMDA or service guys. Are there are further nominations? Does vitz deserve a shot?

You guys can piss on each other all day long and accomplish what you usually do. NOTHING. Or, you can organize to fight this. It would take about 3 hours of your time and a little ingenuity. Just do what I did with the Caulerpa bill. Is AMDA willing to do it or not? Yes or No? Piss or get off the pot?? C'mon AMDA, I'm giving you a shot to "take the credit" so to speak. Go for it.

So what is the fight, Mary?

Are you trying to organize industry to present reeform proposals with the intention that The Government sees that industry is changing?

Or, are you simply trying to organize industry to fight the governments legislative intent?

Welcome back Jamie, things were going great till you showed up again. Please read, and reread this :

Your personal attacks are not welcome in this forum, suck it up man!

GreshamH,

Things were going great? If for you doing nothing is synonymous of great you have a real problem. Show how many dealers of marine ornamentals in the States have joined AMDA in the last year or two. That is the real question. Leadership shows! Your boss lacks of it. Collecting only a thousand dollards from an industry that makes millions IS NOT something to be proud of. It is the future of the marine aquarium industry that is at risk, is not Robinson's future. With Robinson as the one leading AMDA , if he still does, AMDA won't go any where. His personality doesn't help to this cause to the contrary is detrimental. This is NOT a personal attack . When a leader doesn't do his/her job it has to be denounced.

Today's AMDA is not the same one when John Tullock was around. I am not the one asking AMDA to act to do something. Read previous messages.

Please do not be affraid ask your boss to be more productive and ask him to stop what you call the personal attacks.

I meant in the forum, but I can see how you couldn't understand what I wrote, no biggy.

Your more then welcome to start CMDA anytime youn want Jamie and lead it in any direction you please. Wayne will help out. Geeez, you could even squander the netting funds and send inferior nettting to the collectors, or better yet, don't send any at all. Your water chemistry talks alone will help them with their whoas.

If you are suggesting that it is none of my business getting involved you are wrong. It is everyone`s business.

After reviewing the proposals carefully and talking to the legislators and bureaucrats involved, I will be meeting with Canadian Government officials with the hope that a joint CANUSA REEFORM effort can be agreed to.

In several months I will also be putting proposals before our own Government for funding for the following
CDT
netting
training.

I would like to hear from those interested in assisting with the proposal, and those having an interest in the above.

I will also be asking the Canadian Government to make a formal presentation to the US Committees in support of the proposals .

And, what will you be doing Gresham?

You had better include resource management plans, Wayne. Or your CANUSA Reeform Program will not be ready for primetime.

You are right. Absolutely key to ensuring a continued supply of net caught fish.

AMDA was a sunken ship long before Steve took it over. I remember the group of weenies that ran it at the MACNA down in Ft. Lauderdale. They had a vote to see if AMDA should shut down. Paul Holthus was there telling them how worthless they were and to get out of his way (Well Paul put it a little more eloquently).
