What's the deal with Maxima clams? I haven't been able to find any except the small ones for a long time. Plenty of croceas but no maximas.

Now that ORA is back to full strength, you should snag a stocklist from them. Plenty of clams of all different sizes on the last list I received, and they even have 1.5" farmed gigas.

Peace,

Chip

Thanks Chip, I order from ORA every two weeks. The last list I got from them only showed 1 1/2" maximas available. I've been waiting for bigger ones to show up.

The Fort Pierce area was hit hard by two hurricanes. Contrary, to what may have been posted on Reefs.org, there was damage to some of the greenhouses and to the water supply for ORA and the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution. So, there may be some species that will not be available from ORA. At least that is what I was told recently. I visited Ft. Pierce (but not ORA) last weekend and witnessed how the area is cleaning up and rebuilding in the aftermath of the hurricanes. Many trees were toppled, many trailers lost their roofs or worse (some totally destroyed), many trees had all of their leaves stripped off by the high winds (they looked almost like there had been a forest fire).
