It is so nice to hear that the aquaculture industry is growing leaps and bounds and that the export of wild coral may be a thing of the past.

I am wondering whether this is a result of economics, environmental concerns or the recognition that the use of cyanide has destroyed the reefs beyond compare.
Any comment?

hobbyists dont want brown coral , since 90 percent of the average wild SPS reef is brown or near brown in color ......it makes more sense to propagate the most colorful morphs. There is also a limit on the number of wild corals permitted to be imported. So in order to keep up with the a demand that exceeds supply, farming cultured corals offers an increased product supply. With more corals landing in the USA....hopefully the total number of hobbyists will double :wink:

do you mean ALL reefs?
