CF, here's a picture of 1/2 of the footage that I have shot on the MOI, coral farms, destructive fishing, MAC, and damaged and destroyed coral reefs world wide. most is on MiniDV using a sony VX1000 (some nice footage using a A100 lens also).
I also have 20-30 tapes of the 2001 six week CORL PI tour where we visited a bunch of exporters, collectors, middlemen etc. along with dives from Subic to Cebu. T.J.D. (CORL's volunteer professional producer) and I have started working on a film on the MOI but there is no rush to finish it any time soon. We are now thinking about reshooting some of the PI tour footage in HD format, but seeing that its so hard getting into the exporters and filming, that footage will most likely remain the same but will be recaptured into 16:9.

Mike didnt pay his royalties for about 30 seconds of footage on one of those tapes!!! 8O Heh an aquarium shop owner wanted him to pay $5 for every coral that appeared on his tape one day when he was in a local store here.

CF, it cost CORL and I tens of thousands of $ to take the video footage, usage isn't free, even the TV station here is required to pay for its usage. It's common policy and covers the upkeep on the cameras and cost of shooting it. Seeing that we still plan on releasing the MOI video much of that footage will not be released for others to use, but we do have additional footage which we wont be using.
When the TV station wants footage they send me their script and I match the footage to it. The charge is 50.00 per munite of new footage or 25.00/min of archived previously aired footage and full credits must be given (the local TV station even puts in a blurp about CORL at the end of the show and gives donation info).

Send the script, how much footage you need in minutes and if you want new or old previously used footage. Use the cost given above to calculate total charges.

Make the check out to The Coalition of Reef Lovers.

Mike

BTW we have been working on the MOI production for over 3 years now, and if we reshoot the PI footage in 2006 and finish the production it could air in 2007.

Did you go to a frag swap/tank tour wade had a few years back, then we all migrated to Brads store

Mike, I am serious about some digital footage, I want a awareness dvd, to distribute to customers who really want to learn what I am talkin about, when I try to market some maricultered coral, kinda like Trumps apperentice did for Pontiacs marketing tactic on that little sports car, I'd edit, burn, print & all...But really, need to decompress first, of some other ideas

I have been considering discussing this with my importer/transshipper, who already has a extensive list of maricultered acros, they have been in the import business since the early 90's

anyone else out there got any digital farm footage,if not I may have to fly to the secert spot, with their approval and start filmin

From what I understand, Reef Stewards is it's own. That is not to say the don't support other NPO's like CORL.

Hopefully Righty or Bookfish will chime in on this when either gets a chance.

hey, gresham
I quess it would be dumb of me to invest, if there is a free link for the world
awesome,pics

I'd still love some footage, showing the poverty and how this type of industry would help counter it, also of the farms of course.....is this a dumb idea

The mariculture farm on my importers list, is in central java, I have not seen any pics of it yet though, but the list of cultured acros is a whole page

No, we're not associated w/ any other org's...yet.
However, I think CORL looks to be a fine org and worthy of support.-Jim

I am just curious as I don't want to be ignorant about how things are collected. In one of the links there is a picture of a large gathering of montiporas and another of stags. In those pics, how many of those would be collected? Surely not all of them right? Is there a percentage they would take and leave the rest or are the lenses in my glasses too rosey?
