Dear sirs,
Please find our support for the petition to allow importers a 24 hour notice requirement instead of the 48 hour one.
The petition lays out perfectly why the 48 hours is impractical and often impossible to comply with.
Apparently it is also unevenly applied as some USFWS offices don't take it as seriously as they have a closer repoire with the importer community then LA does.
Being able to predict the future is never going to be something we can do despite our best and most sincere effort. We get our final confirmations right up to the final hour sometimes and that may well be way under the 48 hour window requested.
24 hours is fair and doable. 48 hours is unfair, unwise and unworkable.
Sincerely, Steve Robinson

1]Mindless, myopic bureaucracy to help underscore whos who and whos boss.

2]...to attempt to automate and pre-set import schedules on auto pilot to avoid working in 'live' mode and deal w/ the variables and uncertainties that accompany all international flights in perishable livestock.

3] Setting dealers for impossible to comply with procedures of perfection to enable and insure more fines and raise more money....because they can.

Some of us have delt with them for 25 years now....and long ago stopped asking for sincere reasons for policy.

Dealing with any bureaucracy you soon learn to not ask why and definitily learn not to even think there is a sincere reason for any policy.

Just when you think your thru, you end up making yet another bureaucrates career. How many have built there careers on your work in Mexico now Steve  ?

Man, I thought we Canadians were bad for bureaucracy. I definitely feel for you.

Our procedures are...show up at Canada Customs, complete your computerized entry, and pay some tax. Depending on the airline, I can have shipments back to my w/hse in as little as two hours from flight arrival. Now don't forget...our airport is also not quite as busy.
