crap, even old stories are new to some people. Hell, I've been "rockin' the boat" for 8 years now and some people still don't know me. :lol:

Well that explains why I get some boxes of rock infested with ants. And what's worse is that on a couple of boxes which I thought smelled unexplainably rotten, I found dead, paper flat, maggot infested rats stuck to the outside bottom of boxes. I've seen and see a lot of nasty crap in my days and I have to admit everytime I find one I get the dry heaves.

What a shame cause I always thought better of the place I got them from.

If you ever visited some of the wholesalers you would see why that is possible and it doesn't have anything to do with being brought in by boat.
I've been to LA a few times over the years and looked in on my suppliers. It can be an eye opener and explain quite a bit. On a scale of 1-10 there are 1s and 10s and everything in between.

Having worked for a couple and visited just about all of them, I don't think there are any "10s". I don't think a perfect 10 is attainable by any facility in the industry. However, with that said, there are several solid 8s and many 5s in So. Cal.

JT you must not be grading on a curve. :wink: Anybody in wholesale or retail can ge caught with their pants down after a particularly hectic day. From my trips to LA I thought the wholesalers overall did a good job. I think it is important to keep in mind that no one in the biz really likes losses on stock they just spent good money getting shipped in. We get people coming into our store just hoping they can find something wrong so they can call the animal control officer. If something turns over their water bowl and an animals rights type sees it before you do here come the pet police. We got reported because a baboon spider had too much webbing in its cage to suit one of them. We caught one feeling the breast of our 16 year old store pet macaw we hand raised ourselves. We love that bird like our own child and they think we are neglecting to feed it. :roll: It will not be humanly possible to please people who have an agenda to shut you down. These witch hunts do little to better the industry IMO. Boat rock sitting on the dock at LAX my ass.

The big boys, overall, do a very good job indeed. Especially the high profile ones on 104th St. that everyone is always looking to bust. That's why I said they are a solid 8. Everyone can be better though and when customers come to visit there are usually areas that you can't see. :wink:

However, there are a bunch of small wholesalers in LA that I bet you haven't been to and I am certain you haven't been to many of the transshipping garages out here. *shudder*

Still, LA wholesalers are worlds better than the boys in the North East. Have you ever been to Dean's place at All American Tranship in NJ? Ugh. The places I visited in PI looked better than this place on the day I was there.

Thats chilling.
It strongly implies a motivation not based on concern for the animal but a personality problem that seeks to elevate a low self image by impugning anothers worth as a caring person.
It applies to issues both anthropomorphic and environmental.

Though it was not in LA proper and is no longer under the same ownership.

Another clue is my father opned the shop and has retired and left me to run his dream.
