Talofa From American Samoa!
Just thought I'd post this here just in case someone might want to attend.
On July 22 2006 The Coalition of Reef Lovers American Samoa Branch will be holding its Community Based Coral Farming Workshop in the Village of Alofau on the Island of Tutuila in American Samoa. This workshop is the third one we have conducted here in American Samoa and participation has been growing every year.
This workshop is to teach other villages about setting up a coral farm in their village for coral reef restoration and as a community based Coop.
This workshop is the third is a yearly series the 1st being a workshop on environmental awareness May 20th 2006, The second on Community Action and Planning on May 27th 2006.
So far 13 villages have asked for assistance and 3 coral farms are being created.
So if anyones interested in learning about getting a village community set up to do coral farming come on down. I'll give you a tour of the Coral Farms and Island you can even help plant some of the cultured corals onto the reef rehabilitation area.
