Race, Thanks for the positive comments/suggestions. Jaime, Lets put our differences aside and see what can be done to save the MAC or create something new.

Personally, I see the need for at least three things.

1) There needs to be an umbrella Marine Trade Organization. AMDA might be a part, but does not seek to represent the umbrella (at least that I can see).

2) There needs to be changes in the MAC (probably new leadership) that can allow the MAMTI Program to move forward.

3) There needs to be a move to ensure better quality marine fish and invertebrates. Part of this can come from mariculture (overseas and in the USA). Part should be net-caught fish.

I hope that there can be compromises reached that ensure better prices for the collectors and better quality marine organisms (that live to make profits through the chain) that are either farmed or harvested sustainably. This was the focus of the Sustainability Session that I helped organize and moderated at the MO04 Conference in Las Vegas. We need to build on these ideas to not only repair the trade's image but ensure that there is a continuing supply of marine organisms for an expanding trade and marine hobby.

Lets work together. It is not too late.

Peter and StevenPro ,
From this moment forward differences are put aside . Kevin Kohen and I are willing to help assist in the first steps.
Let's keep our discipline and let tomorrow be a new beginning for the hobby.

Moderators , I apologize for the tough task that you had today. For whatever it is worth--- I think you did an admirable job.

May I join in sometime? Being part of a positive and constructive forum sounds like a workable idea.

Thanks.

Thanks Dave for surfacing . You know how I feel . If Steve comes back in the morning with insults I will be ready. If not ,then a new era has dawned. It will be interesting to see how Reefs.org accepts this one.

If you appreciate what we do, please help us out by behaving respectfully. I know you think some folks here have not been respectful towards you/your company, but I know you can be the better man. A lot of the tough work we've had to do today stems from your actions.

Len,
You run the show here and I do not . I respect that.

There is a story to be told to the industry and I would like your permission to unravel it here . Yes, feelings may be hurt but I have some valid concerns that I think the fish world would like to hear. I think that so far I have "done good" and so do most of your viewers , the silence attests to that. I am alone here but undaunted, please let it roll.

Feel free to post what's on your mind, so long as it abides by the user agreement which you agreed to upon registration.

I think it would serve you and your message well if you didn't come in here "crusading" or giving others the impression you are here to "enlighten" the community. We all have our opinions, each person's as important and valid as the next person. I ask that you try to respect that.

The "silence" (though there is practically none as most people are asleep at this time ... I can see who is browsing this forum) does not attest to anything. It would also serve you well to not make assumptions about other people's modus operandi or presume you speak for the majority. Speak only for yourself as I am speaking only for myself. We'll let the readers decide what they may.

I will be going to sleep soon too, so please do not presume my silence means anything more then that I'm tired ;)

BTW, think what the motive of your story is before posting it. Please review if it is constructive. My main issue with your behavior is you seem to be doing a lot of things you claim to dislike other people doing. You want us to work together constructively, so help us reach that goal.

I encourage those posting on this thread to add to the "Needs To Be Done" list either by adding new Action Items or by expanding on what should be done under the existing action items.

I suggest that the debate concerning Brick and Morters vs ECommerce be posted on other threads than this one (Titled-Lets Work Together).

It's good to see you here, David. I remember our VERY long conversation concerning MAC when the organization courted me for certification. While MAC was a huge disappointment to me, I was impressed with the amount of time you spent talking with me about it.

I'd like to hear more of what you have to say about it, and other industry issues.

from what i've seen/read /understood-having anything MAMTI move forward is the last thing anyone here would want to do, mac or no mac

If the industry does not step up as a "mostly" unified group (best case scenario?) and work with ALL to direct how MAMTI moves forward, then I believe the "other" interests will be left with no choice but to move forward with their own agendas; with or without the input from the industry...... MAMTI most likely move forward, one way or another; the money is there.... the industry should be more involved.
