I like Steve.

Like most of us, he is a committed reeformer and that is all that is important.

Unlike Jaime, Dr. Rubec and Jenn, he can sometimes be impolite.
But, he can't help it, as he is not Canadian.

You forgot me . He is toxic to the hobby with a toxic past and that is all that is important from a toxicological point of view . He is rude and no longer significant in this hobby. He has undermined the hobbyist in this country and that is wrong .
The time has come for the hobbyist to no longer support a retail store affiliated with him . Kind of like a hunter not purchasing ammo from PETA.
Think about that one those of you that love your hobby . Are Steve and his antihobby cronies on your side? Remember that Steve and AMDA would like to stop your ability to purchase fish and corals via the mail . The same way that they purchase theirs. Does that make sense to you? They think it is wrong. I don't get it. They can--- but you can't.

Do you really think that this is correct. You know my position now lets hear yours.

Let me clarify:

Hobbyists ,
Steve Robinson and AMDA would like to prevent your ability to purchase fish and corals via the mail . All retail stores purchase their fish and corals via the mail . They can and you cannot , is that correct?

As a hobbyist ,I urge you not to support any retail store with an AMDA sticker in the window or one that purchases from Steve Robinson also known as the Flipino net guy.

How does a retail fish store receive it's fish? I will tell you---right through the mail. The same way Steve R and AMDA do not want the hobbyist to get theirs.

I do not have the ability to read original posts after they are editted. If what kalk posted was unbecoming and uncivil, I apologize for coming down on you seemingly unfairly. But as stated, I can't read what he has editted, and I'm basing my comments on what I currently see.

A new post in this thread every 3-5 minutes (for six straight posts) also is a bit excessive and gives the impression that you are impatient or baiting for a heated response. I will be the first to admit I may be inferring your intentions wrong, but this is how I personally perceive it. My suggestion is to demonstrate more patience and respect for others, even if you think little of them. This will be the only way we can have a constructive, friendly discussion (and hopefully this is your goal).

You've already asked it (many many times). At least wait 24 hours. Someone will likely respond in due time. If no one chooses not to respond, infer (to yourself) what you may and move on.

There are those who feel mail order companies dont do their part at creating hobbyists. My store is a good example of the additional burden real LFS carry on their backs (an issue you seem oblivious to) .
About one forth of my store is used to stock tanks. Local price wars have set the current aquarium prices at or near dealer cost.
This translates into having to generate profit else where in the store and these additional profit streams must cover the associated burden of the aquariums. Now I can choose not to carry tanks at all......but this would have an end result of my store creating fewer hobbyists.
See like it or not , your average Joe walking in off the street will decide to enter the hobby or not to , based on the cost of the aquarium set up more then any other single factor. Aquarium stores without aquariums dont create as many new hobbyists as do stores with tanks.
Dry goods are so cheap over the net that its almost not worth carrying them in store.
SO the profit from Live animal sales at the local fish store level have to bear the burden of loss leader aquariums sales, high visibility retail rent (so the public is exposed to the hobby) AND the creation of customers for Mail order stores like yours!
You knocking the wisdom of those who see the industry dynamics for what they are .............sends a clear message about where your priorities are rooted.
Without retailers peddling aquariums on the general public, there is no hobby and there are no hobbyists for the good doctor to court.
Heck, do you not realize that without the retail stores who purchase from QM , your company could not purchase enough product to keep QM afloat?
Your entire business model from import to retail is based on the backs of the average American brick and mortar.
