a bit of an explanation

I just wanted to say that I don't like the idea of deleting anyones post, ever. I strongly support everyones right to have their say on our forum. My action was extreme in response to what I felt was an extreme situation but I just wanted to reassure the community, this is not my style, nor a sign of any change here. Thx-Jim

just an outsider's/peanut gallery's view:

unless it was offensive (or somehow directly against the UA) why edit/delete the post at all?

why not just lock the thread and add on the last mod post the explanation of the why's and therefore's? whoever would just be clicking on a dead-end thread basically.

i guess the post was pointless but that would be more lounge-worthy than delete-worthy imo. let the lounge mods worry about it. :lol:

FWIW< all mods and admins here NEVER and I repeat, NEVER, edit or delete UNLESS the post was in DIRECT violation of RDO's UA.

I was a partial witness, Jim did what had to be done.

Leaving up violations of the UA can lead to some bad things, i.e. libal lawsuits, etc.

ah, then i retract my "questioning critique".

i saw some of race's post/questions and thought these were the same flavor and subject. while his posts and style were antagonistic imo, they were still left up. so i was wondering why the post in question (and the replies?) were deleted.

i don't think antagonistic posts like the ones he had should be deleted because it's more the flavor of the posts and how he posted them ("rapid-fire" as len noted) than an overtly offensive attack/insult.

It was purely trolling/baiting on his part IMO, of which activity is frowned upon by many.

Well there was obviously a lot of venting taking place. We should all realize that he has feelings too. If anything I said helped to set him off (and I know it did) then I appologize to Len and the rdo staff. I don't feel very good about the whole thing. I truly am sorry Race. Regardless of business practices I don't believe you are the guy we saw last night.
