I had to share this and I think this is probably the only bunch of people that would appreciate my amusement.

I get a box today from DHL. It's one of our large fish boxes. I wasnt expecting it, I had no instances of problematic shipments or returning shipments listed.

So I'm like uh oh. I open the box expecting 'odor' and 'devastation' and instead I get a large empty styro box with a medium sized styro box inside of that. Two fish boxes. Wierd. Totally empty - nothing in them.

Just boxes.

Perplexed, I look up the clients zip code and call him. I asked why he sent the boxes back. He says he was sending them back to we would re-use them again because he's recycle conscious.

So I'm going to give this guy a nice little 'thank you' credit for the trouble he's gone thru to do this. I guess I can re-use the boxes.

It was just kind of strange, and I've never had something like this happen. I was fully entertained and thought it might pass a giggle your way too!

Have a good weekend.

I have allways wondered about the inflatable box liners (cargo tech.com)

Could they be de flated and returned? I ship about 300 boxes a week

I'm not impressed with those inflatable box liners.

I think reusing them would be like reusing fish bags.

You can poke a hole in a styro box, and still use it, but get a hole in an inflatable liner, and it's not much good. Personaly I don't think they are much good withought holes in them.

I can't stand those things. I always ask not to get my stuff shipped in those but I must be speaking the wrong language.

I keep a large styro in the back of my car for frozen things if I'm doing the "big grocery shop all day cuz I'm a chick" thing.

We've used them for ice chests for parties.

Storage of things we want to keep dry long term or something that needs to stay dust free. They are pretty good about keeping the dirt out.

It was definately a first to get the boxes back. Hopefully it didn't cost him much. Awfully nice tho. It's little stuff that tickles me in this industry.

Oh, and chip, no thanks I dont need more boxes. Nice of you to offer tho.

Dynasty Marine used to ship with the inflatables unless the custermer requested a styro box. But now if a customer requests a styro, they tell the customer no. They are stuck with them. They have to ship everyone with the inflatables with the inflated box charge, just to keep the price of the inflatables at the current price.

i bet that the gasoline that was burnt to get those boxes back to you did more damage to the enviroment than making two new boxes.

heh-i wonder if all the hobbyists that moaned about MD's peanuts being non-biodegradable even ever take that kind of stuff into account, lol

<rhetorical wondering ;) >

if they were truly so 'green conscious' they'd tear down their systems tomorrow, lol

I've thought that for years Vitz! I shudder to think about how much electricity you use in a reeftank over it's lifetime. How about the amount of fuel to collect the livestock then ship it through however many hands until it lands in your tank?

owning a reef tank and practicing environmentally responsible energy usage are mutually exclusive

same for anyone who claims to be passionate about reef conservation, and keeps a tank ;)
