In the enlightened land of the Philippines, you can dynamite and poison coral for commerce...but you cannot grow it for commerce.
Thats the law....
And Marcos has been long gone. How they justify their dearth of reason is beyond me.

Actually I know why they dont allow it but its not a popular thing to speak of just now as it may embarrass certain attendees to the MO conference in Orlando this weekend..

it's not technically Red Sea...it's Oman. they're growing 8 billion pieces of A. maxima just for me.

Actually I am planning to go to the Philippines in March or April and am in the process of setting up some meetings.

I would like to visit an aqua-culture facility.

Why not take the opportunity to visit all the major exporters and explain to them that cyanide is wrong and that they are ruining their own reefs?

I don't think cyanide is a laughing matter, Chip. Nore was the advise funny at all.

Visit the Marine Ornamentals conference in Orlando Florida this week [starting now.]
Some of the key Indonesian and Philippine fishery officials responsible for the continued maintanence of the cyanide trade are there talking about...er what else, conservation.
