Hi folks,
Thats right. After years of effort, the first big load of legal clarion angels are coming soon to my place in San Francisco.
We will ship out daily from Wed the 23rd of this month so if you need any...let me know. They will clear wit the US Fish and Wildlife Service in broad daylight and with full disclosure.
The average fish will be about 4 inches...thats a young teenager fish w/ blue stripes and trim.
They will cost $xxxx each and will sell fast w/ half going to the orient right away so get your reservations in soon.
Sincerely,

Steve Robinson

Awesome, I hope it works out. If anyone can make something happen down there it would be Steve.

He's there now :) Before he left he spent a day at US F & W S making sure they fully understood what was happenning. Having seen the permit myself I have absolutly no fear this is 100% legit.

What is the deal with Clarions? Doesn't their range overlap that of H. passer? So why is this fish such an issue? I remember working at the wholesaler, then a store waiting for one. It never came. :x

One of those animals that is so desirable only because of it's rarity. I see ths with reptiles too. Nevermind H. passer is arguably more stunning as an adult, and every bit as bulletproof, not to mention about $3500 cheaper.

If most of the yellow tangs went to Asia, they'd be $3000 and everyone would want one.

I just don't get it. Neither the rarity of the fish, nor the willingness to pay so much for it.

a 3-4 day open ocean boat trip one way to the Islands would change your mind about how common they, not to mention up until this shipment there hasn't been any permitted trips to the Islands for well over a decade, more like 2! While they do cross paths, Passers are far more common. Very few Clarions make it to the mainland where Passers run the place :)

I thought there was someone posting here before about how common the clarions were down there that fisherman considered them a nuisance. Cathing them by the dozens every time they went fishing and such?

Yup, on the islands themselves :) 3-4 day journey via boat on the very open ocean one way. Hard to get to spot.

A buddy of mine showed me a pic from a dive spot down there years ago, HUNDREDS of clarions were boiling near the surface.

So I still don't understand. There are people on these islands, but since there's no trips permitted those people aren't allowed to leave when they want?

A quick search will bring up all the old threads about the clarions and what is and wasn't allowed with them. It's simple to do and doesn't take much time.

Isn't it just military on the islands?

Bingo :) IIRC it's only one that can even have people on it. The rest are just rocks. It's not some tropical island wit palm trees and sandy beaches. They're pretty much barren rocks with bird poop!

Some people never learn it seems like, I wonder if we can expect a similar experience to the last time Clarions were "legally" brought in.

I'd want one if they were the same price as a passer, but just from a looks point of view it's not worth it to me to pay stoopid money just to say I have a rare to the hobby fish. If they were as common as passers or queens in the trade I'm not sure anyone would really care about them.

Congrat's to Steve for pulling off what I think he's been working on for decades.

Fish look very nice.....I am sure they will fetch a nice prize.

Maybe when Steve is done packing and counting his money, he will share with us his journey.
