Eric set up a group - if you want the info, join the group or repost it here (which would be great!). Kudos to Eric for actually taking action. 17 members already and one click to invite more. Nice!

An admin note: If you post something that someone sent to you in an email, please be very clear about whom it was sent to and in what context. The context almost always informs the message.

Can you imagine asking your local police to compile and maintain a list of all the citizens emails in the precinct, and sending out emails whenever laws change?

 you can't even compare the two. We're talking about a total of like 200 - 300 nation wide...if that. Our local branch would have like 30 to deal with. One click...Bam....

But it's just a list and a click, right? Why would it matter if it was 300, 3,000, or 3,000,000? ;)

Bottom line is that it is not the responsibility of the USFWS to serve the desires of the aquarium industry. I don't see how anything beyond posting the laws in a public place is part of their duty. It is the responsibility of anyone in the aquarium industry to know the current laws and follow them, right?

I have been receiving news alerts from the same lead inspector that said she would not do it. Now that this group is starting to forum, I think the inspector is happy to keep me informed knowing I will post the message on the group forum.

So....new news about Australia and Tonga just posted on the group's forum.

Have a good weekend everyone!

E

PS...thanks for the kudos Thales but the group will only be as good as the members....so I hope to see good support.

Actually it is a law that a government agency does have to informt he public of policy changes. In this case they feel simply posting it online is fine, as well in the office. Your right though, ignorance of the law is illegal and punishable.
