I can't comment on the sustainability of acan collection.

IMO, more and more reefers are moving away from SPS as they present a rather static look to the tank.
LPS and softies are coming back.
I would like to know why acans are so expensive and if some of them are aqua cultured.

One of the side benefits I found with the Aussie Acans is that the rock came with various critters I have never seen before.

In the near future I plan to set up a tank devoted to florescent coral and fish and acans are part of my plans.
I think that the high cost is part of the 'must get one' fad factor.

We have many members in the Boston Reef Society who are fragging acans. Many are slow growers but there are a few species that grow quite quickly. Target feeding appears to encourage faster growth.

Reefers have moved away from SPS for awhile now and LPS have been the in corals for well over a year.
