The clubs proud to welcome Kevin Swiechowicz, Wildlife Inspector, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services as our guest speaker on Friday April 5th.
Kevin is on the enforcement team focused on JFK animal importation where he is in charge of inspecting and shipments of everything from coral to live elephants! Kevin and his coworkers inspect coral and fish shipments to make sure they comply with the permits that were filed for them. When in violation, Kevin confiscates the shipment and punishes the importers. It's fascinating work! He will be talking about the scope and details of his work as well as discuss the upcoming NOAA legislation regarding coral importation limitations.
An added bonus for April and May.... Reef Exotics graciously donated a MRC CR-1 calcium reactor. The club will be hosting a silent auction for the reactor with the starting bid of only $75! For those unfamiliar with a silent auction there will be a clipboard along side the reactor, those wishing to bid simply write their name and bid. At the conclusion of the May meeting we will announce the winner.
