I have had the same coral beauty for 4 years now and it has never bothered anything. I do have a few SPS, LPS, and softies. It was in a 90 gal for 2 years and has been in my current 180 for the past 2 years.

My impeller cracked and stopped working after 1.5 years. I pulled it out and it had signs of rust showing though the crack. I ordered a new impeller from Champion lighting and it is running again. 6 months is a ridiculous amount of time for an impellor to crack. I would never buy a Sen 900...
After two hours the lights shut off today. I immediately pulled the plug and reinserted and they went right back on. They stayed on for another two hours and the same thing happend. I did notice that the ballast is much warmer then the 430 next to it. But then the 430 is driving only 2 60"...
I'll double check all the connections. Is it possible that internally something is "shorting out" after a certain length of time? It is nearly a 6 year old ballast. How long do they last?
I've had this ballast for 5 years now. For one year it ran 4 48" bulbs. For a couple more years it ran just 2 48". For the past 2 years it has been running 2 36" bulbs. Yesterday I rewired it for 3 60" bulbs. I plugged it in and bingo no problems. They went on this morning and I left for...
Will these small anemones I have are the pest variety described in Sprung's Vol II book. The pictures he has in that book look exactly like the ones I have. They look like baby roses, but don't grow much bigger than 1" across and they are starting breed. They aren't nearly the pest an...
During the past 6 years I have bought over 450lbs of RAW Fiji Transhipped for various tanks and I have seen only 2 of the damn things. That was 4 years ago and I injected them with KW and haven't seen them since. What I DO have is the very small anemone (sp?) that resemble a small rose bubble...
Unless the yellow polyps can be isolated some how I would never recommend them in tank. A rock surrounded by sand or isolated by placing LPSs near them is the only way to go. Other wise when they are happy they can turn into a plague. :x
No secret believe me. I have never fed them directly. Maybe some flake food hits them. Otherwise if they are eating it is whatever is floating in the water column which at night is considerable when all the micro organisms, eggs, and other living stuff is floating around. After following the...
A butterfly in a Reef? I've been away from boards and mailing lists for a few years now and I didn't realize people were putting these into tanks with so many corals to munch on. How much of a risk do I run with one? I moved a 4 year old bubble coral (Grapefruit size) and placed it into the...
Interesting. Nothing I have in my tank will touch them. If I had it to do all over again I would not put yellow polyps in my tank or I would isolate them on a piece of rock surrounded by sand. I am to the point I might have to start injecting each one. That will take forever and I am not...
Aqua C's customer service is 2nd to none. I have had an EV 200 for 2+years now and love it. It has it quirks that the newer models seem to have fixed. Once dialed in it is a solid performer. For ease of use the Euroreef products seem to be the way to go however. I believe they make units...
Boy 30 would be awsome. I am in the multiple hundreds now. I had a huge head of Xenia that began to melt due to star polyps, but I can rip the matts off of the rock to control them. I am really starting to worry because YPs are heading up to several frags and clusters of SPS. Trying to inject...
Perhaps someone here has delt with this problem. Two years ago I out grew my 90 gal and moved everything into my current 180gal. I now have fields of yellow polyps in 5 different places that are quickly filling up any space they can. LPS are standing their ground, but several different button...
