  1. What Species Of Wrasse Is This?

Hi there, Does anyone know what species of wrasse this is? It is a little more blueish than it is in the photo. THANKS! Chris
  2. my new 220

That's quite the project. Very nice!!
  3. lfs shots

Very nice. Especially considering you're dealing with shooting them while dealing with the challanges of photography in a retail store.
  4. New clam and camera

Ha, ya... I bought my girlfriend a camera for Christmas. It's a waterproof one too. She has absolutely no need for her camera to be waterproof. I think she saw right through my getting myself a present. Nice work on the photos!! :o)
  5. Whole tank shots with a fisheye?

I'd avoid using a fisheye lens for aquarium photography. Especially it you are wanting an accurate documentary image as they distort the lines in an image significantly. The same is true for stitching multiple images together in a pano (shoot from a single camera position). Here's a snapshot I...

  8. some macro shots in my tank

I LOVE the textures you capture in your images!! Really nice shooting.
  9. A few shots with the Nikkor 60 mm lens

Oh, I guess I should have also mentioned... In most situations in aquarium photography, your camera isn't that far away from your flash so you don't really need 'wireless' control of your off-camera flash. You can use a wire. A dedicated sync cord will allow you to have full control over your...
  10. A few shots with the Nikkor 60 mm lens

I don't know anything about the cheaper units you are looking at. I did buy a cheap ring flash once (i think it was Phoenix). It was terrible.
  11. Patience. . .or learning to love the flash

With the original photo, yes, a little on-camera flash would have helped some as long as you were at a little bit of an angle to the glass so it wouldn't reflect. Set the on-camera flash to fire about 1.5 stops underexposed so that it brightened up the fish's front a bit, but doesn't overpower...
  12. A few shots with the Nikkor 60 mm lens

If you want to control a Nikon SpeedLight (flash) off camera, wirelessly without the cameras built-in flash going off, you need a SU-800 Wireless Speedlight Commander. They are almost as expensive as a flash unit.
  13. A few shots with the Nikkor 60 mm lens

    What can I say... A W E S O M E ! !
  14. Patience. . .or learning to love the flash

Well, isn't he cute. Fish with a little bit of personality always make fun subjects to photograph. It sounds like kind of a fun game... Turn pump off, wait for fish to swim in, turn pump on, fish gets shot out... repeat. :o) Nice work on the image as well!! I agree that a little bit more...
  15. Assignment Good Photo 1 - Kalki

Ha that's awesome!! Something we haven't talked about is how humor makes for effective photos. This makes me laugh. You can actually see part of the reef in the left hand eye.
