  1. POWER OUTAGE?????

I have a "20 minute" UPS hooked to one of my tanks. Sure it will only run my PC and monitor for 20 minutes. However, I've had the power go out at least 5 times in the past year, and the UPS runs my Bak-Pak for hours on end, I've gotten 5 hours out of it before. I'm using a maxi-jet 900. I...
  2. SCWD

I have a mag 5 on my scwd in my 46 gallon, it cycles between the two outputs about every 10 seconds. I have no complaints about mine. Ben
  3. Green Algae !?!?!?

The answer: RO Water, RO Water, RO Water. I had the same problem until I got my RO/DI unit. Once I pulled the last of the hair algae out after switching to RO/DI water, it has yet to grow back. It used to grow back on a weekly basis. Ben

  6. Reverse Osmosis recommendations

Well, Christmas couldn't wait, I went ahead and got the 75 GPD from the guy I referenced above. I also got a TDS meter, which I thought would be a great investment as well. I'll be sure to test my just regular tap water, my tap water filter water, and then my ro water with it and let you all...

  8. Reverse Osmosis recommendations

I will be using on my 46 gallon. Right now I just have one of the dionization tap water filters. I've recently moved to the next county and I think the water isn't quite as good, and would like to give RO a shot. Thanks for the advice. Ben
  9. Reverse Osmosis recommendations

I am going to put an RO unit on my Christmas list. I would appreciate it if anyone could share any links to various online retailers. High GPD is not a prioity, although I do want a DI chamber. Thanks in advance! :D Ben

Ok anybody else want to chime in? Thanks, Ben
  11. 46 gallon bf closed loop help.......

The canister filter would be a good start. However, I was looking for something with multiple outlets. My plan was to split the output on the pump 3-ways and have 3 outlets in the tank. Possible putting a sea-swirl on one of the outlets. This wouldn't be possible with the canister filter I...
  12. 46 gallon bf closed loop help.......

I am looking into putting a closed loop system on my 46g bf tank. Right now I have a bak-pak, 3 powerheads, and a gutted power filter(just for water movement). I'm interested in getting rid of the power filter and powerheads. I do not want to drill the tank, so it will all be over the top...
  13. Coralife Aqualight question

Agreed, however the bulbs are a lot smaller than the big piece of acrylic. Logic would state that they wouldn't have to cleaned as often due to the size in relation to the acrylic. I was just concerned if there would be a problem with the heated bulbs getting splashed. I know this a no, no...
  14. Coralife Aqualight question

I have a coralife aqualight one of the 2 X 65W models. Anyway, I was wondering if it was ok to move the acrylic shield that covers the lights? There may be an occaisional, very light splash that may hit the bulbs, would this be ok? After a week with the shield on there, there are just a few...
  15. glass top or no glass top?

Sorry to bring this topic back up, but I wanted to post a follow-up since I removed my glass top. Ok first of all, a word to those that still have your glass tops on your tank.....TAKE IT OFF, of course if at all possible. I noticed 3 major things after doing so. First of all, the tank seemed...
