  1. Rose Bubble Tip anemone

Mine moved around for awhile until it found a small cave. It has it's foot in the cave and retreats totally into it at night. During the day it is fully extended (neck is stretched about 4 inches) under 175mh. Color is great. I put it in the tank as one of the first things after it cycled...
  2. Leucilla

I have these small (about the size of a large grain of rice)members of the sponge family growing profusely all over the piping in my tank and inside the sump. They are going to start plugging up stuff I am sure. I read there is a nudibranch that eats them but I have no idea where to get one...
  3. Trends pointing to a problem? Need advice.

Most of these fittings are brass which is about 70% copper and 30% zinc. If you have any gold color fittings anywhere, I would get them out quick. You could get a copper test kit to be sure this isn't the case.
  4. Tiny Starfish

SM thanks for the photo link. I don't think mine is the same. He looks justs like a full size starfish, five legs, very simetrical, tan color. He has mostly been on the back wall which is black so it is difficult to photograph. I'm going to just watch and enjoy, Thanks all for the help!
  5. Tiny Starfish

So it is not likely that this thing will grow into a large coral munching nightmare!
  6. Tiny Starfish

I just noticed a 1/4inch diameter starfish cruising along on one of the pipes in my tank. Tan colored. Is this anything to worry about or is he just another interesting inhabitant?
  7. New Tanks Chemistry

Thanks both for the reassurance. Daahh - the alk is definitely a little high not low. I'll try a little Kalk to increase the CA and see what happens. The Nitrites are undectable since the cycle. I haven't tested amonia or nitrates. I guess I should. Why is it desireable to wait before...
  8. New Tanks Chemistry

Also have 20# live and 80# dead aragonite
  9. New Tanks Chemistry

I have a new reef setup - 90g, 90lbs LR, IO salt. SG 1.024 Its been up about a month. The rock cycled and I have changed about 20% of the water. I have recently added 7 little Green chromis, assorted snails and crabs and a RBT anemone. From the beginning the alk was low -4.85 to 4.00 meg/L...
  10. Kalkwasser and a 29g Reef...

Do you need to use vinegar when using pickling lime?
  11. Sealing the inside of a stand??

I used West System epoxy and just poured it on the bottom and used a foam brush to do the sides. They sell a white pigment that you add to make it look kind of Hospital clean. You can get it at West Marine in the Bay area or online. Bill
  12. What type of garbage can for Water Change?

Did you notice that the Rubbermaid Brute cans show a "NSF" (National Sanitation Foundation) food contact approval on the underside of the lid. Not sure it is necessary but it can't be a bad thing! Bill O
