  1. Something eating Sarcophyton!

Look for nudibranch's...i've had'm. Mine was a really pretty yellow colored one. I hoped that my sarcophyton could regenerate fast enough to keep up with the nudibranch but no such luck and had to pull the nudi. Look for them at night. Buba
  2. Pics of plumbed 24oz. CubeReef

That is so not 24 oz. Just look at the size compaired to the microscope sitting next to the thing. I'm not saying it isn't great and beautiful...but there is no way that is 3/8ths of a gallon.
  3. Aquarium for School

power compact is gonna cost you more then metal halide.
  4. Minimum size needed for a profitable aquaculture facility?

If profit is of any concern, you're better off breeding snakes. If you can aquire a pair of snow boa's or piebald ball pythons (~18,000)...in 3-4 years, you could be talking about a litter of 10-20 babies. If you are gonna start aquaculture, keep it simple, inexpensive and modular. Large vats...
  5. Aquarium for School

Some great advice has been given here and I'll try to add to it. Tank: I would actually go with a 40B if I were you, it is short and a lot of depth. Lighting: If you could find someone to build you a hood, you can get a MV ballast, socket, and 250w Iwasaki bulb for around $100. Sandbed...
  6. Fritz Zyme Turbostart 900...cycles a tank in 2 days?

Sounds like it would be great when starting a new tank with fresh, non cured, live rock. Buba Quick question...so all those things like stress zyme have no nitrifying bacteria in it?
  7. Good Online Aquarium Stores

Premium Aquatics all the way! Champion lighting is WAY overpriced, not to mention the fact that they won't tell you they don't have something in stock (so sometimes it takes WEEKS to get to you). Don't forget, you get what you pay for (refering to the 9 for 99). ffexpress is good for...
  8. MH for a 10g reef

Worked fine on my 15H when I had it up 4 years ago. You just have to make sure to topoff every day or get an auto topoff. Buba
  9. A Question about Garf.

Good to hear goldenboy...but my point is, is that clams do best on the floor, but in larger tanks with 24"+ depth, this isn't possible. I wouldn't come close to disagreeing that you can't keep clams or some acro's under VHO's in shallow tanks, but unless you have a 6-8 inch sandbed, I wouldn't...
  10. What is your MAIN source of lighting in your tank

Wow, thanks shane. You can close this one if you wish. Bubafat
  11. A Question about Garf.

Chucker-thanks, that was my point. Paul-I'm sorry, but I was going off of what I saw on your website. There were only a few SPS's and one clam. Like I said before, you have a beautiful tank with very healthy looking corals (even if it is a little too blue and dim for me  )...
  12. What is your MAIN source of lighting in your tank

This doesn't include supplementation for color.
  13. A Question about Garf.

Scoff all you wish but facts stand...ya, you might be able to keep some corals alive and slowly growing on a few VHO's in a shallow tank (note how deep pauls sandbed is and the fact that he has to put his clam on rocks which can be hard to do) but for the money halides are a better option. Also...
  14. A Question about Garf.

Here ya go...a "little" reading for ya. http://www.reefs.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb ... forum&f=31 As for their methods. They are basically recommending a plenum, low fish population, high water movement, underpowered lighted system. Good: They don't overstock their tanks with fish and although...
  15. Can you have too much Strontium? What are the symptoms?

Hey Moe, I have seen the article that s and b base that claim off of, but I've also seen a more recent article (i don't have the abstract here, i'll try to get it posted), that showed that the thermodynamics for strontium incorperation in the calcification process is much lower then calcium...
