  2. Green Carpet Anenome Fish Eating Question????

My green Carpet, who went back to the LFS to find a fosterhome yesterday, used to "love" the fish I had in my tank. To a 6-8"carpet, I lost, over the course of 2yrs ; 2 sailfin tangs 2 yellow tangs 2 gobys (well maybe this was my fault, opps) 1 Blue Damsel 1 3 stripe Damsel Many Turbo's Asst...
  3. what you guys use for backs of your tanks?

Used a black garbage bag, cut the edges off and stapled it to the back of my canopy. Plastic, nice texture, easly to install after the 180G was filled and setup (opps) and very light. JOhn

  5. AAHHH Broken 180Gal Reef (LONG!!!)

Hi guys, Sorry for the delay in replying, vaccations are tough you know!! When I left I drained 1/3 of the tanks water to relieve the stress on the cross braces. I didn't lose anylivestock over the week. :D I picked up the new top today and had some help from the LFS to replace it. They...
  6. AAHHH Broken 180Gal Reef (LONG!!!)

Thanks The top frame is all one piece of moulded plastic, which if removed would look like 3 black rectangles, connected side by side. Unfortunatly they are not. It's difficult to tell from the picture, I've croped it and added a red line to show where the crack is and the resulting bowing.
  7. AAHHH Broken 180Gal Reef (LONG!!!)

Anyone know how to edit out one of those pictures?? You can see on the left hand side of the closest brace, it's separating right where the canopy rests on the black plastic trim, right where the cross brace is pulling away. This picture was taken last week, and the cracking is now 1/4" wide...
  8. AAHHH Broken 180Gal Reef (LONG!!!)

Ah HAAA I remember borowing the D-Camera from work and snapping off some pictures last week. I checked the CD and I have a sutable picture for you guys to see.....
  9. AAHHH Broken 180Gal Reef (LONG!!!)

Yep, both cross pieces that are moulded to the trim have broke. I've removed 1/3 of the water to a rubbermaid holding tank and the gap between the braces has closed up. Sudgesting that the bowing of the glass is reduced due to the lower pressure from the shallower water. "A picture is worth a...
  10. AAHHH Broken 180Gal Reef (LONG!!!)

Steve, These two cross bars that I have are 3" wide each. They are made/moulded into the same piece of plastric trim that circles the top perimeter of the tank. I wish I could. I don't have a digital camera yet, but I'm thinking about it!! Andy, My LFS (where I bought the tank) is...
  11. AAHHH Broken 180Gal Reef (LONG!!!)

    The tank manufacturer is Miracle.
  12. AAHHH Broken 180Gal Reef (LONG!!!)

No my tank has no glass braces on the top......Soon, within the next few hours, its gonna have a couple of bar clamps and hockey sticks( to spread the pressure of the clamps) untill I get back from vacation!!
  13. AAHHH Broken 180Gal Reef (LONG!!!)

Maybe it isn't structural?? It does wrap the top edges of the glass tank, I think it's purpose is to prevent the 4 ouside glass panels from separating when the weight of the water is pushing out on them. If your tank is fuctioning well without them (what size?) then maybe I don't have to worry...
