Well, I never touched the bulbs so it is quite a coincidence if it's one of them. I didn't really mess with the wiring either but would removing the rivets holding the metal case together have affected the ground?
Hi All,
I am looking at upgrading from NO to VHO lighing in my 48" MH/FL fixture. I opened my FL ballast box to see what I was up against. I had to drill out 4 rivets to get it open and I had a look inside. All the wiring is neatly zap strapped and sits on top of the ballast inside the box...
Howdy,
I have an Algae Blenny I've had about a month that appears to be wasting away. When I first got him he seemed quite active and picked at various algaes around my tank. Lately he just perches and seems uninterested in food and has become quite skinny. My tank is a 75G with 110lbs of...
My tank has been up about a year. This stuff started showing up about 3 months ago. It is now the dominant algae. I have no other algae to speak of but I pull and suction this stuff out like crazy. My Foxface picks at it but he doesn't make a dent. Any idea what eats it?
I've been looking all over for an ID on this stuff but I can't find a reference. It looks like pink cotton candy. I can suck it out at water changes but it grows back pretty fast. Any idea what it is?
Thanks for the info. Does the same go for the upgrade from NO to VHO? Can I use a ballast like this: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=7756450841&rd=1&rd=1
and put VHO bulbs where my NO units are now?
Howdy,
I have a 48" Coralife fixture with 2 x 175W MH and 2 x 40W NO Actinic. The MH bulbs are SE mogul type and the NO bulbs are T12 with basic "tombstone" caps. There is a plexiglass cover between the bulbs and the H2O.
I was thinking of upgrading my pulse start MH ballast to electronic and...
It didn't come with any calibration solution. I'll have to get some. I thought it would be reasonably accurate out of the box. Is it possible to be out by over 1.0 of pH?
Hello,
I just got a new hand-held pH Monitor. It shows that my tap water is 5.68 (which I don't think is possible) and my reef tank is 7.35. How far out of calibration can these things be?
Well, I used the Chemi-clean last week. My tank is now free of cyano, even the stuff that was on macro-algae. It may be my imagination but my water looks clearer too. I have heard that some people have their cyano disappear in hours but it took almost a week for it all to go for me. All tank...
I've thought of doing the same thing. Lots of tide pools on the West Coast and you can dive for the rest. I thought the temps up here were cooler than 58F though?
That's fabulous!!!
I have mixed up about 20G of SW using RO/DI water with a heater and PH. It has been mixing for about 3 days and there is still some white particulate that is not dissolving. Looks like tiny grains of sand. Any idea what this is?
