TANG POLICE Hehe. Thats kind of funny. But after seeing the little kole tang in the little 20 gal tank at the LFS I figured my 55 was a much better place for him. After 2 years Im thinking of upgrading to a larger tank so he (or she) will be happy.
well since I have posted this the tang has seemed to recovered nicely. He is now eating again and swimming regularly. I am wondering if the problem was a peice of shrimp pellet maybe getting lodged in his throat. My wife had to have a red serpent star and I sometimes drop it a shrimp pellet to...
My kole tang that has been healthy for the year that I have had it seems to have parasites on his dorsal fin. Ive checked all paramaters and all check good. Is there a chance they could go away by themselves? I added a magenta dottyback a couple of weeks ago. The tang has not been eating or...
I have had my kole for about a year now. He was a bit shy about eating at first but now he eats anything I put in the tank. I think his favorite is spirulina. But he eats all brine shrimp, frozen and live. He constantly is eating microalgae off the glass and rocks.
Mick I wouldnt know about how it would be without the sponge prefilter. Ive never ran my tank without it. ANd saying the natural reef isnt cloudy is kind of comparing apples and oranges. The reef tank is a closed system that has too many variables to be compared in that context.
If you say to remove your sponge filters, how do you get the water to stay clear? I use a wet/dry with a built in skimmer...aqua clear aquatics.....and bioballs. The skimmer works pretty darn well. Will the skimmer remove any debris in the water?

I have been using them for over a year since I started my reef tank. But I dont hear anything about them much. I was wondering if there was a better brand to use. Kalk, alk, cal additives.
This depends what kind of corals you have. It they are mushrooms or such, then it may be enough. If they are more light demanding corals, then you may want more like 4 watts or more of light per gallon of water. Also 18 inches for 32 watts is not enough to get to the bottom if you have corals...
Is a mucusy substance comming from under my Green Carpet Anemone a bad thing. It is starting to move away from it. It seems to also be expelling a substance from the hole, a few time while watching it. Is it normal for the hole or center to be open regularly? I just got it and could use some...
I built my own. Its 30" high. A standard 55g sits on it. High enough to see easily standing or sitting and still low enough I can get inside the tank with a step stool.
dattack.....i agree...if you dont agree with a post that you may have no experience on just read it and move on. I am really tired of reading all the nonsense. If you dont have something constructive to add, just move on.
