  1. worms

I am starting to see lots of works in a certain part of my tank. I know there are good worms and bad worms but I dont know what these are. These worms are actually on/in the live rock. They are very thin and long. They have strips of grey and black (| | | | | | | ). I see them moving the snail...
  2. live rocks turning into powder

Does anyone know what the problem is according to the smaller pics that are up now? I reallly need to know if this is a problem and how to solve this. Thanks.
  3. live rocks turning into powder

The links above point to the same pictures which are a lot smaller. I left them big so that you can zoom in and see what the powder really is since it is very difficult to see the details. The rocks are lalo rocks from liveaquaria.com. They have been in my tank for almost 1 year now. I have...
  4. live rocks turning into powder

I put up a message here last week or so about power coming out from my live rock. I am seeing it often and all over the place. I am wondering if its something I should be worried about. I was asked for pictures last time and I have just gotten a chance to take some decent onces and put them up...
  5. live rocks changing

I have been seeing that there is lots of power like material around my live rocks. Recently I noticed that my rocks have more holes in them than I remember. It seems that the holes are getting bigger and the power material is what used to be the rock. Is this a normal process as my tank matures...
  6. help with new fish

I have a 54 gallon tank with about 55 lbs of rocks layed out the way I like. I had 2 damsels in there and added a clown fish and a Pink Pseudochromus recently from the LFS (Sunday). (http://www.aquaticretail.com/product_in ... 52784eaca5) The link above gives a description on the fish. A few of...
  7. tank cycling

I am surprised hear you say that this thing probably hasnt even started to cycle. As I mentioned, I had the 2 damsels in there for a while and when I had the water checked then it was high ammonia. This was before I added the live rock. I am surprised to see that everything was 0 when I did the...
  8. tank cycling

Currently I have stock lights and an considering new light before I buy any soft corel. I will only be buying hardy species as I am only a newbie. I have a hood that holds 24" tube lights. At the LFS I see tubes that are 4200K, 5400K and 6500K (dont remmeber exacty number but these are similar)...
  9. Skimmer making microbubbles

Initially I had a big problem with all those bubbles with my venturi style skimmer. After my tank has gone through the cycle its a lot better now. I think picking up a lot of crap has helped to break it in. Perhaps you just need to wait a little bit.
  10. Newb with setup and questions

I though the fluval is a bad idea for saltwater tanks. Isnt that meant only for fresh water? Shouldnt there be a sump or wet/dry or both? I started out with only a wet/dry. I found that I needed the live rock and still havent removed the bioballs although the guy from the LFS recommended it, I...
  11. tank cycling

I bought my tank in August. After a couple of weeks I put 2 damsels in there to start cycling the tank. (yeah I know I know, not enough) All I would get was high amonia. Recently put the damsels in another tank temporarily and got some Lalo live rock in there from liveaquaria.com. They said that...
  12. got my live rocks

The worms are starting to creap out of the rock. Will they always be like that or will they eventually go into hiding. Does anyone know why they are creaping out right now? Also my tank STINKS. Jeez it smells like the petstore. :) Thats exactly how the box of live rocks smelled when I first...
  13. got my live rocks

I got my rocks today from liveaquaria.com. They were out of the fiji so I opted to get the lalo rocks. I followed their instructions to submerge the rocks into very salty water to get all the little critters out, but I must not have done the big piece properly and now I see some worms. What is...
  14. live rock advice

I am going to order the live rock. This rock will be used to cycle my tank. I will most likely be putting the 2 damsels in another tank. Should I get the live sand now and put it in with the rock or should I wait until after my tank is cycled? Thanks, Dhaval
  15. live rock advice

I am caught between the decision of getting live rock from Florida or Fiji live rock from the LFS. As someone posted before, the florida live rock is heavier for the amount of surface area but didnt note any difference in quality. What are the experiences of others. Have you seen both sides that...
