I have about 60 pounds of Live Rock that had real bad hair algae. I scrubbed all the rock with a toothbrush to get all the hair algae off. I then left the rock ooutside in the sun and it all bleached white.
Now my question is what do I have to do to make the rock ready for use again.
Thanks...
I was looking at this pump http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem. ... uct=MM1136
Now the only problem I see is that the inlet is a 2" and the outlet is a 1.5" I woul have to reduce the 2" inlet to a 1" inlet and then reduce the 1.5" outlet to a 3/4" outlet. Will this hurt anything?
Thanks,
Shane
I have an Iwaki WMD30RLXT on my 92 corner. It just died on me yesterday. I am now going to buy a new pump but im not sure what to get. I liked the Iwaki but its only like a year old and already dead. What is a good brand? Little Giant, Quiet One, etc. etc. I have not been reading up on here...
I am thinking that the rock is the problem. This hair algae is only growing on the rock. It grows in the overflows and the somp only because it has gotton stuck in those places.
Its like a war of territories and nobody wants to invade. My coralline will grow on the glass and plastic but not...
I had an old tank that I broke down when I got my new tank. While I moved over the LR I replaced the sand bed. Now I kept the old sand bed in a Rubbermaid container. When I put the sand in there I ran a hose through it till all the "dirt" was out of it. Pretty much until clear water came out...
Would it be easier (not cheaper I know) to just buy new live rock? Maybe like 100 pounds. I am only running like 60-65 pounds right now.
My water comes from a 6 stage RO/DI. Fairly new.
When I "cook" the rock I will Syphon the sand bed.
Ok I have the worst outbreak of Hair Algae you have ever seen. I will try and post a pic on here later. I look at other tanks on here that say they have bad hair algae and laugh at what they call bad. Lol. I have had this problem for over a year and am very tired of it. My solution is this...
Mine I have had for 2 years and each of his antennae's are about 8" long. His Body from tip of tail to tip of pinchers (held in normal postion) is about 3" long. He molts about once a month or once every three weeks. For a while it was every 2 weeks. I had him in a 46G tank but he is now in a...
I have always heard that Tahitian Moon Sand was a no no in a reef tank. Is this true. I am gettin gready to set up a 3-4 gallon Nano and want to use the Black sand. Will it be a problem? The tank will be just for zo's and maybe a fish and some crabs.
Thanks,
Shane
I just know that it will be from the Carribean. I dont know the type. Forgive me for sounding like a newb but i dont know much about Nanos or what I can put in them. What do you mean by weight? From him sitting on the zo's?
Thanks,
Shane
