  1. sand in freshwater tank

I got some quartz sand that is used for sandblasting. They had 2 or 3 different particle sizes. I got the sand that was the most course. Very clean stuff, and only $8.50 for a 100lb. bag! I plan on using this stuff for my new planted discus tank. I think it'll look cool in there with the swords...
  2. Do NOT feed Tubifex worms!!!

I've just started feeding my discus red wigglers a couple times a week. Lots of protein, and the fish go crazy for them! Got to be one of the cheapest live foods around.
  3. Acrylic tank repair?

I got mine from a local glass company. They had to order it for me, but it was cheaper than ordering online, then paying shipping charges. I ended up just cutting the cracked piece out with my Roto-Zip, cooled with water to keep it from melting. I then used this piece as a pattern to cut out a...
  4. What do U thing Best Skimmer in 3 Brand?

I just got my new Deltec. :D My Euro Reef is a very good skimmer, the Deltec seems to pull more crud from the water. You could not go wrong with either one. I've never used the others.
  5. Acrylic tank repair?

Thanks. I'll give it a try.
  6. Acrylic tank repair?

I have a 4" long crack in the top of my 180g. acrylic tank. the crack starts at the corner overflow and ends about an inch from the side of the tank. Seeing as how the top braces the tank, is there a good way to fix it, or is the tank now junk?
  7. What kind of Crab is this?

    Just squash it!
  8. Plenum or deep sand bed

Forget sand! If you want sand, visit the beach. I like it bare bottom and topless, and turn up the flow! :D
  9. New tank with trickle filter

Wow, a trickle filter makes a rather expensive sump, but yeah, you don't want bio-balls on a reef tank for sure. I'm looking for a trickle filter for a planted discus tank, they are more pricey than I expected! You could sell the filter, and build a sump!
  10. Epoxy recommendations

Aquascape works really well, not like that crap you get at the LFS. I have attached several large (7" plus) SPS using it. I moved these from one tank to another several months ago, none fell over.
  11. Refractor or Salinity Monitor

I have both. While a monitor is great and a nice thing to have, you also need something to check it against.
  12. Epoxy recommendations

Double post is bad enough, but a triple post is just crazy! Sorry.
  13. Epoxy recommendations

    Dang, PC is acting up!
  14. Epoxy recommendations

Nikon, go to www.deltecusa.us and click on "Aquarium Media", and look for "Aquascape". It's the best stuff on the market. It's from Germany, and sold by the people who make some of the finest skimmers in the world, Deltec. Sold right here in the US by the Dist. of Deltec in America, who is one...
