I've used 10k's 20k's I've seen the 6500K's (way too yellow).
I get the best color out of 20K Radiums. Thats what I'm burning over my 120 gallon reef right now. Actually I have a 400 watt and a 250 watt and I love them both.

I second the motion for a Lifereef overflow. I used one for years and very reliable never broke the siphon.
I have been using his sumps for years very happy with them.

No lighting will work for Coralline. But also remember calcium and alkalinity need to be at proper levels. You might want to consider dosing with Bi onic or another additive.
But if you can use VHO go ahead and do it. Like they said you can use the ballasts later on if you get into reefing...
I did not like the color of the bulb. It looked a little yellow to me. Switched to the 20k radium bulb and I am much happier. The corals are coloring up bettor also.

I have to say the algae Free magnet floating Hammerhead really cleans my 100 gallon tank. Much more powerfull then the mag float and a whole lot cheaper then the magnavore. I also like how the outside part is made out of oak instead of plastic. Looks a lot nicer.

I just replaced my old worn out acrylic system II with a glass 100 gallon. One thing I noticed was that thetop of the acrylic aquarium was starting to craze from the metal halides that I've had on them.
I talked to one acrylic manufacturer and they said they've known about the long term UV...
I like the Bak Pak, because you can buy an overflow for it, and you can stick your heater inside of it as well. At least for the Bak Pak II. I'm not sure about the IIr

I've been using the Tidepool SOS for over four months. The only problem I've had was when I had the airtube adjusted incorrectly and the water overflowed into the backup hole. Unfortunately my cats had punctured the hose without telling me. It dripped some water onto my electrical stuf.
BTW...
Nathan,
I really agree the Osci Wave is very underated. I've noticed nothing but good things in my tank when I put one on. Much bettor than a few powerheads on a wavetimer.
Mine has been working for four years no problems.

I live in San Diego. I just go down to Scrips Aquarium or (Stephen Birch). They have a faucet that you can drive up to and get all the saltwater you want for free. The water comes from a peir that goes out about a quarter of a mile fifty feet down.
I put it in 5 gallon gas cans and bring...
Every Rio 2500 that I've come into contact with either directly or indirectly would fail after about a year.
I have a mag pump now and am very hapy with it.
I think the small rio's 600, 800 work well enough though.

The bulb with the bulge is how my Aqualine Bushkie bulb looked that I bought from Champion. BTW it also burned yellow for about the first hundred hours.

Does anyone know the contact # for Osci Wave. I need to order a new bracket for my Osci Wave.
I really love mine with an Aquaclear 800 on it, boy does it create some current.
thanks in advance

I keep trying to call the marine center to talk to them about a potential order. No one answers, whats up with the company? How do they do business?
