naesco,
Wouldn't that still have a negative impact on living wild animals? They had no idea that their new home was going to be ripped out from around them leaving them defenseless to predators or even worse, a one way ticket into a clear box in Kansas. We may know that the reef they call home...

I commend you on your appreciation for our oceans and your desire to learn about our reefs, but what you have to remember is that not everyone in this hobby shares your commitment. ...Speaking of anemones, I read somewhere in a thread that 500,000 anemones are plucked from the...
Let's face it the reefs would be in much better shape if this hobby did not exsist. I think what Fishaholic is trying to say is that a captive bred tank is the lesser of two evils, and I would agree with that. However, I think if you participate in this hobby you have to accept responsibility...
clkohly makes a great point. How much carbon dioxide emissions do the power plants emit trying to keep up with our power hungry hobby? How much do these emissions contribute to global warming and in turn, to coral bleaching? Some warn that within 30 to 50 years most of the worlds reefs will...
In the last couple of years I have owned several different skimmers, sumps and pumps. I have gone from the CPR Cyclone CY294 to the MTC's HSA 2000 (overkill for my tank), to an ETSS and now to a Lifereef filter system (my favorite so far). I have owned almost every Iwaki pump made and now use a...
Are you still here... Are you leaving or not? Or is it just your way of getting attention? Sorry, I don't see the point of announcing that you're leaving and then continuing to post in the forum you claim has sold out. I for one think there is plenty of room for everyones opinion, even those...
Try some trochus snails, they seem to do well, day and night. Some snails only work after light out.
BTW, they have no problem flipping over when they land on their back. A situation that usually results in the death of other snail species.
The baffle is a manifold that reduces the 1 1/2" pipe to four 1/2" pipes, each with a ball valve to regulate the flow to each sea swirl. The pressure is supplied from the pump.
The amp master 3600 should pump 20 GPM at 11.3 ft. I think that the AMP Master 3000 actually does better with 30 GPM at 11 feet. Something to think about. I have one of each on my 100 gallon, one on a closed loop, works great.
