  1. RO vs. DI

$299?!?! Whoah, I got a RO/DI off of ebay for $120... it makes 75 GPD compared to the 10~or so GPD that a Kenmore can make. And yes, mine has a DI (unlike the Kenmore). If you want to save on $$$, look one up on ebay. They are great investments not only for you aquarium, but the water tastes...

Thanks! :D I couldn't help it. I went ahead and bought a small setup for my lighting system. They have some pretty good deals, I came across this one: $15 off your order at www.x10.com- http://www.x10.com/friends/refer.cgi?IO ... [email protected] Just wanted to throw this out in case anyone...
  4. DIY controler, CHEAP!

Thanks RG, I found some great posts on reef central about x10. very informative. I think I'll go x10. It's slightly cheaper than buying 6 intermatic digital timers (for lights).
  5. DIY controler, CHEAP!

Does anyone have any experience using an x10 controler for their aquarium (to control lights, pumps, etc.)? What is x10? Here: http://www.x10.com/automation/timerkit_1deal_a.htm These things are dirt cheap, compared to controlers marketed for aquarium use. I really wanted to use one to...
  6. QUICK lighting question

Thanks guys. I was just worried that it might be too much light. I was also planning to put a couple actinic 110w vho's later on in the future. Don't want to fry my clams. Thanks for the heads-up. I think I will invest a little more and get the 250's. Jonovan :D
  7. Acrylic Joints- Pic Link

Great work! I have finally decided to try my sump again. This time I'll try your pin/needle technique (I believe it's called capillary joining?? Did some research :D ). I already bought a can of Weldon#4 (instead of #16) and have that little applicator thingy. Just need to get the acrylic...

  10. Best Skimmer... advice.

Hi all! I recently bought an AquaC Urchin w/ MaxiJet 1200 upgrade (rated up tp 75 gal) which was intended to go in a 55 gal, but before I could buy the tank, I found a GREAT deal on an 80 gal with stand. I am now thinking that this skimmer will not be sufficient for my new 80 gal. True? I am...
  11. Will Metal Halides Melt This?

I'm planning the lighting system for my new 80 gal tank and been reading about different refectors. This is what I've found: "Mirrors are the only material that will reflect ALL of the light (no photons wasted)." Here are my questions: Do I wan't all of the light reflected into my tank? Or is...
