Something must be wrong with the mag if it is scratching glass like that. Can you see what part of it is scratching?

If you have a decent number of hermits in your tank they should be cutting down on the cyano. Perhaps add a dozen and see how they do.

25# of live rock, needs to cycle but otherwise is clean. Pickup near Union Square. Bring a bucket.

Not much in Manhattan, I would recommend going to Absolutely Fish as they have a lot on display and in stock.

It is definitely going to feel like that for a while, but learning is a lot of fun and this is a hobby that is constantly advancing. Just read as much as you can, make contacts in the community to get help when you need it, and don't be afraid of failure.
