You might think about returning that 20 gal glass tank and visiting the nearest plastics outfit. They could probably make a larger sump for less money and you wouldn't have to worry about breakage. I remove my sump when I do water changes. I clean the sump and the equipment. With that much...
I agree with 2poor. You can't make the decision without knowing what environment your looking to recreate. Once you've decided the environment not only will that dictate whether or not to use a dsb but also what other organisms you can successfully keep in the tank.
Certainly appears that the study (if reliable) would be enough of a factual basis to question the credibility of those representing that MM is from the ocean. I applaud matt for calling a spade a spade.
I have read studies on natural reefs where water temp has been measured at > 90. These temps were not constant however. I regularly run my tank at 80-82 with temp as high as 86 in summer months without any apparent adverse effect.
I am going to a 300g tank. What is your opinion regarding glass vs. acrylic. I am leaning toward class because it appears that glass doesnt hold the heat and doesnt scratch as easily.
My tank fluctuates in PH levels from the morning to the evening. Everything in the tank is flourishing. Has anyone ever read any thing on PH fluctuations in natural reefs? Just wondering.
