You mention that 'Turbo Calcium' will throw off your tanks ionic balance very fast.
I use 1 Tsp. of 'Turbo Calcium' daily to maintain my calcium level at about 550/600.
Could you explain since I do not understand what 'ionic balance' is.

I have an Aqua C Remora Pro Hang On on my custom tall tank, which is about 61 gallons along with about a 28 gallon refugium and it handles the load running about 12 hours per day.
For your 29 gallon, an Aqua C Remora would do just fine in my opinion.
