  1. Sea Swirl not moving

I had one break down on my thanks to a Turbo snail that lodged himself near the elbow and in turn stripped out the gears inside. You can send them back to Ed @ sea swirl and he'll repair them. I think it's a flat fee like $40. Email him and ask. Mike
  2. aptasia problem

    sorry...wrong thread
  3. Joes Juice - welcome me to the new millenium

FWIW, I've used Joe's in my tank a couple times to eradicate some aiptasia and it worked great. I also have 2 cleaner shrimp that live right in the area where I was squirting the Joe's and they were unaffected. Mike
  4. Anyone using Tunze Turbelle Stream kits?

Yep...using 2 6100's and love them. I could use at least one more in my tank though (330 gallons). Great water movement. Worth every penny of the ~$750 I dropped on them. Mike
  5. My heart is brocken, Aiptasia!!!!

Whoa...hold on a second....If I'm reading those correctly, there are 2 posts on this "issue". And a sum total of 2 people reported losing shrimp. The one guy lost a bunch of snails too. Hardly evidence of anything, more than likely other tank chemistry issues.
  6. My heart is brocken, Aiptasia!!!!

Interesting...I have 2 cleaners and the aiptasia we're right near where they hang out. They were unaffected.
  7. My heart is brocken, Aiptasia!!!!

Pick up a new product called Joe's Juice. It was far more effective for me than kalk or Stop Aiptasia. They actually eat the Joes stuff, then promptly die. Do a search, you'll read nothing but praise for the stuff. Mike
  8. Where do you get your DI cartridge or resin from????

I've been using resin depot mixed bed resins for over a year now. I bought a cubic foot of it and sold a bunch off and kept enough for myself. Just did that again about 2 months ago. Stuff works just fine, I keep an inline TDS meter on my system to monitor it. For a full cubic foot bag, it's...
  9. Help me install an overflow....

Ahhhh...good catch....I might have missed that...I thought it was tank gaps...didn't think about gaps between the box and tank.... Still, if the tank is bowing, I wouldn't trust it... Mike
  10. Help me install an overflow....

I hate to be a downer here, but: 1. Acrylic shouldn't bow. Even if it's used. That means the tank was underengineered when it was built. I've got an 8' long acrlyic tank and there no bow at all but it's made of 3/4". 2. If it bows now and the seams are showing stress (i.e. the gaps you...
  11. B-Ionic / Kalk / WAY high pH / confused

Depends...Kalk is good at maintaing calcium levels as they are absorbed by corals. It is not the most efficient method to raise calcium (i.e. my Ca is at 350 and I want to raise it to 450). You would have to add a lot and therefore have a troubling impact to pH. Something like Turbo Calcium...
  12. B-Ionic / Kalk / WAY high pH / confused

Yes, it's just calcium chloride and no, it doesn't hurt your tank. I know people that use it exclusively to maintain their Ca levels. I dumped a full pound of the stuff into my 330 when I was getting it going.
  13. B-Ionic / Kalk / WAY high pH / confused

Let me get this straight...You topping off with kalk nightly. AND adding B-Ionic daily? On a 29 gallon tank? That's a good amount of chemistry for a small tank. I'd say pull the kalk. Get yourself some Turbo Calcium, use it to bump up your Ca levels to where you want. Then, start up with...
  14. question re: venting seperate fish room with exhaust fan

I went all out and installed a heat/air exchanger in my fish room. This monster unit draws air out of the fish room, throws it out of the house, then draws fresh air from outside and puts it into the room. It "exchanges" some of the heat from the outgoing air to the incoming air, so here in...
  15. Am I in trouble (DKH) ?

Run the test again when you get home. Sounds like the kit is working ok. Maybe you just added to many drops of the reagent or something....I'd test it again before you start making drastic changes. Big questions: How's the livestock? Do they seem effected? How's the pH?
