I just reread your post. I'd say triple check the electrician's work. Then look for marginal connections between outlet strips and receptacles, and between plugs and outlet strips. Some outlet strips are really cheaply/shoddily made.

If you want the ones that look like Whodah's then be careful of these imported ones. They may very well look exactly like his, but without a pic, you are relying on someone else to make that determination. Best would be for you to see them for yourself, to decide if you like them :)

Mike, I just slowly pour the alk into my tank in front of a power head to let the clouds disperse. The Ca, I just dump into the sump all at one time. If you're dosing every day, I don't expect that you'll have much problem with rapid/big changes in tank chemistry.

Just cut down the 55. Use a thin kerf 60 tooth teflon coated plywood blade. Makes fast super nice cuts on plex.

Live rotifers. Yep, larger stuff too. I had some lords in the bottom of my frogfish larvae contraption.... don't ask :) But I will say those lords got fat and puffy, and put out a bunch more polyps :)

Mike, just feed them every day. Several times a day if you have the time. Been harvesting from my rotifer culture and my lords were super happy getting rotifers 3x a day :) I do the kill the flow and target feed thing. I was at Rommel's yesterday. He said it works well to take your micros out...
