For 1/2" glass, my vote is for Algae Free Hammerhead Float, much stronger than the largest Magfloat and a bigger cleaning area. IT ROCKS! You can get them at Premium Aquatics, Flying Fish or from the Algae Free website web page

You could also try Algae Free's new Piranha Float, It works great and the inner piece floats to the top if it falls off. Premium Aquatics or Flying Fish carry them.

Algae Free makes the strongest floating magnet avalable its called the Hammerhead Float, it's acrylic safe. It is quite a bit more expensive IMO its worth it! Has a nice big cleaning surface and works great on my large acrylic tank.
