  1. Who destroys more reef, MO industry or food industry?

Food fishers for the local market use dynamite, agreed. Food fishers for the live trade do not, they use hook and line, and to some extent, cyanide. No point in using dynamite! Horge's opinion would indeed be interesting, however, i think we can agree that it is all damaging, and if we could...
  2. Who destroys more reef, MO industry or food industry?

Mary, you have a valid point, however, MO and food fishers are not mutually exclusive, if a MO fisher sees a nice grouper go by, they will squirt that too. Fishers are fishers, and want to be. They don't want to make straw hats, that has been shown to be true. I do think though that one trade is...
  3. Who destroys more reef, MO industry or food industry?

It certainly seems that this argument is mute. Fisheries for the live food fish trade contain destructive elements, as do the fisheries for the aquarium trade. If you can make any improvements to either of them in any way, then why not? Some years ago I heard a similar argument about whether...
  4. IMA says: NO SILVER BULLET

I don't think IMA will get any big funding any more as there have been allegations of financial mismanagement there. Big funders are not interested in giving IMA any more money.
  5. Ferdinand Cruz coming to Chicago, Oct. 18th

All hail the great God Ferdinand, he who will single handedly save the reefs!! Hail Hail!!
  6. Is it time to blow the whistle on industry?

Perhaps if the industry could show a link to cyanide use in the weapons of mass destruction, international terrorism, connections to the Abu Siaf, then Bush could invade another country? Let's face it, it will be easier to find cyanide in the Philippines than WMD in Iraq. Then again, he'd have...
  7. MAC Cyanide Detection Testing

Kylen, where did you get nosebags small enough for clown triggers, and given their lack of ears, how does the bag stay on long enough for them to get to the mini oats?
  8. 'Nemo' fashion!

  9. Listen up ya little reef killin hoser!

Good on ya Jenn, it's nice to see some people can still have a sense of humour (spelt with a 'u' just for you Canadians!) on this site!
  10. Listen up ya little reef killin hoser!

AAARRGGHHH!!!!! Old Arthur Guinness, who founded the Guinness Brewery on the banks of the River Liffey in Dublin in 1759 must be spinning in his grave! My many times great grandfather was one of the first asses to pull the drey as it trundled out of those famous gates. He never set hoof in...
  11. Listen up ya little reef killin hoser!

Don't know how you could ever confuse Carling Black Label with a real beer either?
  12. Nemo's mom is a mis-mark.

There is a book I saw recently where Americans paint their cats to reflect their owner's fashion sense. Very scary seeing a tartan cat, or a black housecat, painted to look like a leopard. Very bizzare. http://www.sfsite.com/04b/wp150.htm
  13. Would there be interest in a group trip to the Philippines?

Having been there a barrelful of times, I will give up my place on your gastronomic 8O tour of the Philippines (with hopefully a little reef work in there too  ) for someone who hasn't been there to see what goes on first hand. A good idea, and good luck, I hope it comes off.
  14. we shoot our wounded...

Steve I also like children, I just don't know if I could eat a whole one.... MHA
  15. Would there be interest in a group trip to the Philippines?

Pancit canton are instant noodles. If you ever get to Cebu try the spit roasted chickens, quite literally the only good Filipino food I have had, but certainly some of the best roast chicken in the world. How they manage to get those scrawny chickens to ever taste so good I will never know.
