  1. Live rock with surprises!

Live rock was put in to start system, however - some may think this cruel, we waited a couple of weeks then added 2 black mollies (only after aclimatising to salt water for over 6 hours with slow drip set up) to see if ammonia would spike, went up slightly but then settled back to 0...
  2. Besides Mandarins, what fish eat pods?

Hi Our tank has only been running 6 weeks with Liverock, and we have the same little white critters I believe you call pods crawling all over glass and rock. The good news is we have just added to common clowns (1 week ago) and they have frozen food (defrosted of course) for breakfast & tea...

  7. fluval cleaning and multiple skimmers questions

H, we have a fluval filter and the advice/instructions that came with it supports all that martin says with regard to rinsing in tank water and only doing some of the filter media, our lfs told us to keep the carbon in but to replace the green fluval sponge (bacterial sponge) with a blue one...
  8. Live rock with surprises!

Hi all, have tweezered off 7 starfish and 2 sea slugs - I missed one at first and you should see what it did to my zoa :x I had no mercy with him and sqished him between my tweezers! Have gone back to LFS and bought more live rock, with lots of microscopic bits in to try and start cycle -...
  9. Live rock with surprises!

Thanks waymack97 for the possible star fish name, I've checked the web and It is the same as those documented....I am now arming myself with tweezers as it appears they can have population explosions and eat corel :( I just hope I don't break any bits off as don't want them to multiply that way.
