  4. Slight Gap Between Bottom Of Tank and Stand

Uneven weight distribution, over time, has the potential to result in stress fractures - especially for this size tank. When dealing with 120g of water, there is absolutely no reason to take chances. (I've seen smaller tanks crack and cause lots of damage.) The advice above is correct - check...
  5. 2008 reef changes ?

Will be moving out to the burbs soon... so will be breaking down a 135g reef w/ 150lbs of rock, corals, fish, inverts, etc. -- really looking forward to it! It would make sense to do equipment upgrades as part of the move, but not really focused on that right now.
  6. Mj Mod

On my 6' 135g tank, I am using two Sure Flow 1600s on Maxi Jet 1200s. Great flow, but to be honest, I am getting some of the humming noise that is typical when using the old version of this mod (the 1600 gph prop) on the MJ 1200s. I spoke w/ Mark from Algae Free (the manufacturer of the...
  7. ? about new set up.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say 2 x 150w 10k MH w/ actinic supplementation. For a 75g tank (typically 21" high), the intensity of two 150s are more than enough to grow SPS (even around the bottom 1/4 of the tank), while not being too overpowering for some LPS corals...
  8. what's the length of your photoperiod?

    2 x 96w 03 actinic PC -- 12 hours 2 x 96w 50/50 PC -- 10.5 hours 2 x 96w 10k PC - 9 hours 03s on first, then 50/50s, then 10ks -- lights go off in reverse sequence
  9. Store Opening Date Set!

  10. metal halide lighting

GM -- It really depends on the dimensions of your tank - primarily its depth. Assuming it is a typical 6' x 2' x 2' layout, 250w is certainly enough to penetrate that depth, and you'd be better off adding a third fixture - as it is often suggested that MH bulbs be placed at 2' intervals. If...
