  1. Need advice on which MH to use

I've finally decided I'd like to upgrade my lighting to metal halides, but don't even know where to start looking for them, or which one to get. My tank measures 30 in. long, 22 in. deep and 12 in. wide. I'm looking to keep soft corals and some hard corals like hammers, frogspawn, brains, etc...

Thanks Everyone!!! I purchased a Kent 35 gal/day RO unit from petsolutions.com on Sunday. To my surprise it arrived Wednesday! I think it may be the one Reefmack reccomended (thanx Reefmack) :) So now I'm excited because I started it up today and all is going well. Hopefully I'll have...

  5. RO/DI Questions

Hi everyone, I've got a bunch of questions again :D I want to buy an RO or RO/DI unit. First, what is the main difference between the two? I'd like to be conservative and spend under $150, I don't care about the gpd, as all my tanks are relatively small. Any suggestions on what I should get...
  6. A bunch of Q's about a Seahorse setup

Wow! Thanks everyone for the info. Maybe I'll go down to a smaller tank then. So now I have another Question. Where does everyone buy their seahorses? If I do go with pygmy sehorses I was thinking seahorsefarms.com, as I thought they had good prices on everything. I really haven't seen...
  7. A bunch of Q's about a Seahorse setup

This summer I'm planning on setting up a seahorse tank. I'm hoping to make it a 29 gal. tall, but may have to settle with something slightly different (like a 30). I want to keep one or two pygmy seahorse pairs depending on the size of the tank. There will be LR for bio filtration along with...
  8. corals to start with

Mushrooms are always good starters. They come in TONS of colors, are low-maintnance, very hardy, and spread quickly. My tank is about 8 months old and i have five different kinds all of which doubled in size and split within a month. I now have stray shrooms all over my sandbed! Good luck Pat
  9. What supplements do I need?

Thanks everyone for the help. It looks like after I get my corals I'll stay away from the Strontium for now. I think I'll start off with the calcium and trace elements and possibly use the iodine later. Thanks again, Pat

  12. Where's the best place to buy corals? Or get frags?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some opinions. I'm looking to get either a package deal(that costs around or under $100 for around 5 corals) or a place that just has really good prices. I'm mainly looking for the following; mushrooms(of all colors), pearl, bubble, and some polyps. Or if anyone has...
  13. Well, the current heat wave has destroyed my tank...

marillion, sorry to hear about your loss, the same thing happened to me a couple days ago , though not on such a large scale. I lost my jawfish and cleaner shrimp to 90 degree water. I got a fan from my room, placed it in front of the tank, cranked it up on high, and it dropped the temp 5...
  14. Overstocking?

Thank you all for your advice, and I'm going to follow everyone's suggestion and forget about another clown. Instead, I'm thinking maybe a bicolor blenny(i've heard they have a great personality) And jwtrojan44, I have about a 3-4" sand bed, but I am thinking about making it deeper. I use a...
