  1. Fish Stocking Question

A 30 gallon tank is too small for any tang let alone 2 tangs. Having managed a saltwater specialty store before, I would seriously question any advice given to you by a store that tells you they would be ok in that tank.
  2. Clownfish Question

I wouldn't do it. As LordNikon mentioned, the Clarkii clowns will really pick on the percs.
  3. my anemone curles up.

That anemone is definitely bleached and will need to be fed more often in order to have a chance of surviving and regaining its zooxanthellae.
  4. Bubble tip anemone

Nope. The maroon would likely injure or kill the percs. As for feeding the anemone, we have always directly fed our anemones. Krill, shrimp and silversides are all great foods for a BTA.
  5. Ick in my tank

    Take a look here: http://www.petsforum.com/personal/trevo ... neich.html And here: http://www.petsforum.com/personal/trevo ... inity.html
  6. The Anemone Thread/Anemone 101

That lighting should be fine for a BTA. However, a common misconception with anemones is the idea that you can place them high up in the tank if the lighting isn't great. Most anemones can/will wander throughout the tank to find a spot they like based on other factors as well (like water flow...
  7. Anemone shrinkage

Most people never feed? MANY people directly feed their anemones. With some anemones (BTA's for example) you can get away with not feeding as much (although Dr. Mac, someone who has been very successful at captive propagated BTAs, feeds their BTAs on a regular basis). However, other anemone...
  8. Anemone shrinkage

It really depends upon the anemone species and the health of the anemone. A bleached anemone must rely completely on feedings for its energy as it will not be able to get energy from the light. In our experience most carpet anemones do best if fed 2-3 times a week (they are fish eaters by nature...
  9. One More BTA Question

Sorry, but this is not true with maroons. Take a look at the following for more info: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthrea ... did=215098
  10. 30 Gallon with Heteractis magnifica

An H. magnifica will eventually fill up that entire tank and will outgrow it if kept healthy. Also, if you haven't already purchased the lights I would strongly recommend going with a 250 watt halide for this anemone (this recomendation has nothing to do with the tank size but rather the fact...
  11. good mh bulbs?

Almost forgot, yes the higher K bulbs are generally not as intense as the 10K bulbs (lower PAR).
  12. good mh bulbs?

The 12K Sunburst bulbs have a history of exploding and a poor PAR rating. If you are wanting to try a higher K bulb you might want to look at the CoralVue bulbs (they now have a 12K and 15K in addition to the 20K bulbs).
  13. good mh bulbs?

If you are wanting to stick to 10Ks then ABs and Ushios are both great bulbs.
  14. clown tangs?

I agree. The minimum recommended size for one is 180 gallons (and many would say that is on the small size for a clown tang). These guys are aggressive as heck and should only be kept in real large tanks (especially if there are other fish with them).
  15. Skimmer-less?

Sorry, I should have specified "other than a nano". We actually have a 7 gallon nano that we run skimmerless. However, on a larger system I would want something to deal with/remove the excess nutrients (our other tanks have skimmers). Nanos don't usually have big waste producing fish (tangs...
