  1. Bluefin Damselfish

Another trick if you have time would be to not feed for 2 days. Then visit petco or some other store that sells the beta fish in the little cups. You can ask to have or buy one of the containers they house the beta in. Then with the lid on put a piece of fishing line on it. In the center -...
  2. ID Request - rocks, tank wall, sand, and moving

Thanks Tom, That is what they are. I took the name you provided and matched it up and it is. I just wasn't sure to be honest. The tank is still sort of just running on auto pilot other than feeding of the fish and normal water chantes - which now honeslty are about 1 month apart other than...
  3. ID Request - rocks, tank wall, sand, and moving

Hmm...odd. I just went to another computer and it shows fine - different browser and all. Wonder what I'm doing. Thanks for the heads up - let me check real quick. I can't expect much help if my image doesn't show, now could I - lol.
  4. ID Request - rocks, tank wall, sand, and moving

Trying to get an idea of what these are. They don't look like the normal hydroids which are typically the little stick things with whiskers, etc. These look more like orange button polyp type things that are just growing like crazy in the tank. Its a 100 gallon that is in a recovery mode...
  5. Hydor Koralia pumps; feedback

Let me clear something up in case what I said is taken the wrong way. I'm not exactly saying Koralia's are cheaply made. I mearly questioned the longevity of them when all I've owned and operated one was for a week. More than likely they are made with lighter plastic, etc to reduce the...
  6. Hydor Koralia pumps; feedback

Well - in the way I was explaining it some work like a reostat or volume control. 0 = lowest setting or light on power vs 10 being full power. I'm not positive if the neptune does this or not. In the past, previous versions of their controller used x-10 units. Which is off/on, instant. They...
  7. Hydor Koralia pumps; feedback

Actually - this raises a good question regarding wave maker use. Thanks for clearing up why it is not recommended - quick on/off type issue and noise. Makes sense now. However, now I'm wondering if there is a device that allows power to ramp up and down instead of a quick on or off...
  8. Hydor Koralia pumps; feedback

I have one - just recently purchased. Been in use for about a week, maybe 2 at most. Largest size is in my 100 gallon. Overall, neat design. Affordable. Flow - crazy if you put it too low, too high and angle sort of towards the top and you will get just the opposite effect with too much...
  9. How catch 6 line wrasse before move

When I had to catch mine I ended up using a plastic cup believe it or not. Something see through works best. If it has a lid, put it on and cut a hole large enough for the guy to enter. Also attach a piece of fishing line on one end so you can pull it up once he enters... Don't feed for one...
  10. Question about tank after melt down...vacation return...

Good morning. Quick question - after returning from home it seems I had a bit of misfortune and I lost my 100 gallon reef. While nothing exciting, I did lose a pair of mated clown fish and a kole tang which I've had over 5 years now. The coral was 3 full heads of frog spawn, an elegance, and...
  11. Controller software - any public / share ware out there?

I was wondering what people are using for their Neptune aqua controllers in regards to software. Are you using something java/shareware based or the manufactures programs? I'm putzing around with my neptune controll now now and grabbing the data. I can pretty much parse it with perl but...
  12. Is there - any info - that compares or reviews Calcium React

Just wondering if there is a site or article that reviews or talks about pros and cons of owning a Calcium Reactor??? I've been thinking of getting one and see that there are several to choose from. Even some interesting DYI options. I've stayed away from them for some time due to the higher up...
  13. Help - Yellow stuff on rocks - spreading. Spong?

Yes - it looked like cyano to me as well. I've adjusted the Sea Swirl to see if I can get some more water movement in that area. Maybe I can take a turkey baster and remove it when I get home. I'll try. Regarding the growth rate - when I bought the 'spawn I was not aware it grew so fast. I'm...

  15. Help - Yellow stuff on rocks - spreading. Spong?

Liquid, Mulberry, Thanks for the reply. Well - to be honest, if it is a good thing, I'll gladly keep it. However, I was not sure. In fact, it is growing on the stalks of my frogspawn. So to some degree, yes. It is bugging a coral. Is there a way to contain it or control where it grows?
