  1. Possible for PC Lights to Damage Human Eyes?

I have a 2 foot deep 150 gallon tank with a bunch of 60 watt bulbs all over the top, no hood, just the lights proped up off the tank on pvc pieces, with open air sides about two or three inches tall. My couch is directly under my tank facing away from it. Its been their for a few years, I...

thanks for that direct evidence. they must know not to mess with certain corals.
  3. Corals Eating Fish

thanks. The reason I was thinking about this was becuase the hawk fish perches on everything, unike other fish.
  4. Corals Eating Fish

    any takers?
  5. Corals Eating Fish

This is probably obvious, but I should point out that this picture is of the coral closed, and at night it opens up wide with big sticky pits and tenticles.
  6. Corals Eating Fish

The coral that I believe could eat my hawk fish ar open brains. The one that seems most able to eat him because it opens the largest (much larger than the fish) is this kind: www.aquariumarts.com/openbraincoral.jpeg Should I worry? Its my girlfriend's favorite fish, so I am trying to be...
  7. Corals Eating Fish

Who has any knowledge of how common it is for corals to eat fish in an aquarium? I have heard it can happen. To get specific I have a hawk fish who of course spends his life perching on everything in the reef. I also have a number of corals that open up fully with sticky tentacles that can...
  8. Puffers/Triggers/Eels and any types of coral?

Awesome... that's the info I was looking for, I'll try that for sure. Should the eel be introduced last??? Thanks again to all that commented.
  9. Puffers/Triggers/Eels and any types of coral?

Can anyone please answer this question directly?
  10. Puffers/Triggers/Eels and any types of coral?

this is all very good info, thanks. But is it likely that, say a crosshatch, would chew up star polyps and mushrooms to some extent, or would it probably just leave them alone? All together the tank would consist of a crosshatch, like sized eel, mushrooms and star polyps in a 150 gallon tank...
  11. Puffers/Triggers/Eels and any types of coral?

Yeah, it would be cool. So an eel and a certain type of trigger would work with just some mushrooms and star polyps? But no chance on the puffer? Anyone know what type of trigger will work?
  12. Puffers/Triggers/Eels and any types of coral?

I'm converting a tank from coral into something with Puffers/Triggers/Eels... so obviously these are not "reef safe" animals, but does anyone know if ANY types of coral have a chance of living with them? Maybe just a few mushrooms or some star polyps? Or will they get chewed up? Thanks.
  13. Will a wood burning fireplace harm a reef tank?

Okay, thanks for that info. But if the smoke is bad when it contacts the water in large quanities (when the smoke isn't leaving the chiminy) then wouldn't it be mildly damaging in small quanities (some smoke is bound to get in the room). Does anyone have direct expereince with this? Thanks a lot.
  14. Will a wood burning fireplace harm a reef tank?

Hey everyone... so what do you think? I'm moving soon (a 150 gallon tank, yes thats another story) to an appartment that has a wood burning fire place in the same room that i plan to put the tank in. Is this a recipe for disaster? If I burn newspaper and wood, would that harm the tank? maybe...
