You really only need the 400's for depth of water. With a 18" depth the 250's are more than enough for even clams.

Seems it would be easier to have overflow go to both sumps with a shutoff control to LS sump so as not to disturb sand. You then tie both sumps together with bulkhead and pvc aprox. 1/3 the distance from the top and you have both refuium and 12 1/2 gal sump capacity without additional pumps. My 2C

The icecap runs cooler(which may be a factor depending where you have to mount it) and seems to use slightly less energy. When I said cooler I mean a lot cooler and for me that means a lot since I don't want to mount them externally.

Ampmaster will also put a lot less heat in your water than the Mags. Something to consider if your doing reef.
