Alright, back to discussion....
A cone from center of sphere with angle of 15 degree is a bit difficult to visualize for me, so I am going to use a pyramidal cone instead. Let me know if the following math is wrong due to my ignorance.
2 * tan(7.5 deg) = 0.3633 = side of py.
Area of base =...
Everybody is ignorant of one thing or an other, unless you are omniscient. I am sorry if you take my statement to be too negative, and please accept my apology if you feel that way.
... until the water level falls below the powerhead... ;)
Seriously, move surge device are pretty small (most people don't use anything bigger than 5 gal on a 120 gal tank), so the change in water level usually is not an big issue.
No, no no. Use TDS meter to test the distill water and see if it is give you reasonable reading... it is cheaper to assume the meter is wrong than to hack up the RO/DI filter to see what give you such a high reading.
Substrate (SD sand or glass marble) have very little, if not insignificant, effect on water pH, countrary to common beliefs.
The water change *was* helpful no matter what the pH was.
If there is no mineral added to the distilled water, the TDS reading should give you something very close to "0" on the meter.
Make sure you use a clean container for holding the water, since even a small amount of residue can jack up the TDS reading a lot for distill/RO DI water.
Always do a search on mail-order camera shop before sending out money or CC info. Thousands of people got burn every year, and you don't want to be one of them.
There is nothing wrong with PC, in fact, I use them.
It is the way they make up the title for the auction that makes me want to outbid everybody, and send no money.
It is part of the "gut" aka, "intestine." When bothered, it usually will do this.
Leave it alone, and it will bring the gut back into the mouth, where it belongs.
Seriously, I am not worried since they understand that if you have a bad Caulerpa *problem* it will take quite some time to get rid of it unless you add bleach to your setup.

Obviously, what ever you do/don't do, it is what it takes to run the mini...
