thanks for your reply, in the mean time i have been doing some research and found alot of people also use pool filter sand, I hear its great and inexpensive, and since its manufatured its heavier and wont get syphoned up as easily when cleaning your tank. i am going to call a pool supply place...

I have been trying to do a calcium test and it keeps going into the purple range which isnt on the chart...goes up to dark blue...my calcuim test changed at 30 drops...which seems alot to me...can anyone help me on this one?

Right now i have med coarse agronite sand and I may be looking to change it over to a sand bottom....any suggestions on my course of action...can i put the sand over it..or take the other out completly? or just do it gradually so i wont lose the critters in the agronite sand already there...

Hey there, Making my own aquarium hood this weekend...wanted to paint the inside a nice glossy white, was going to to use plastic paint, very durable and washable, but is it safe? What would you suggest?

Hello, was wondering if plexiglass is ok for lighting thru, will it block any of the spectrum? And if not..where can one get a sheet of plexiglass and get it cut....was going to build a hood for my aquarium but want a sheet to put under the lights..would home depot have something like that? Thanks
