I purchase 90% of my merchandise, dry goods and livestock, at my LFS. I like to do business with LFS because they give me the oportunity to view livestock before I buy it there, so it's very important for them to stay in business! JAT-Just A Thought

Actually I do add the Alk (part 2) slowly right in front of a powerhead. If i don't do this, it turns to a snowlike substance. This white "concentrate" doesn't appear on the glass untill about 10 mins after i add both parts 1 and 2.

Just wondering if anyone on reefs.org has had success with keeping Flame Scallops (Limaria scabra) also known as "Fileclams." I know they are very difficult to feed, and i was wondering if anyone tried to feed cyclopees (def. mispelled :lol: ). Thanks for your help! :?:

try to feed with a garlic suppliment or a vitamin additive, what kind of foods do you feed? and how often? the only way a fish can get ick is if it is stressed out. even if there is ick in the tank, a fish can resist it as long as it's healthy. so i guess my advice is to feed w/ garlic...

It doesn't look like ick to me, but i have been wrong before! :) If you think that it's a disease, I would suggest maybe getting a pair of cleaner shrimp. One would certainly do the trick, but in a reef it's best to have pairs because they will mate and feed corals in the tank.

i agree chris, think that an external skimmer would be the best bet rather than trying to find something to fit into that opening, and yes, i would go with the mag pump as well, as i've had problems with rio's before.

I have an awesome book that has id's on all that kind of stuff and tells what their purpose is in a reef tank. it's called "reef invertebrates" by anthony calfo & robert fenner. i think it is very informative....it's in the $40 range, which isn't too bad for a book.

it does sound like ick, i agree 100%. i would buy a reef safe (copper free) antibiotic. i have used greenex before and it worked great on my purple tang! i have had experience with uv sterilizers and they are benificial in a fish only tank, but i wouldn't recomend them for a reef tank as they...
