  1. Is the Lunare Wrasse Reef Safe?

My lunare picks at the pods and such in the rock. Not good for a reef. Plus they bury themselves in the sand at night to sleep which hurts the live sand bed. I've also heard the snail thing before but haven't personally witnessed it as I don't have any snails in my FO. I do have hermits but...
  2. SKIMMING ?????

ITS BAD!!!! I went skimmerless for a while and I'm still trying to recover 8 months later. My case is probably extreme since I had a well stocked tank and no skimmer for at least a month or 2. I tried to start an algae sump to suck nutrients but went about it all wrong and it shows now. I guess...
  3. tons of newbie questions

I can answer a few from personal experience. The cleaner shrimp in my tank aren't nocturnal but do hang under live rock most of the time and come out when I put food in the water. My cuke mostly cralls all over the live rock and its not a filter feeder. probably gets enough food on the rock...
  4. IPSF.com

I've ordered from them too. Very nice. I go tthe 9 for 99 and everything was alive and well. The strombus snails I got have been reproducing and the anthelia poyps have grown from 4 to un-countable, covering 2 live rocks. Got it 6 months ago and I'll be ordering again soon.
  5. How tall are your stands?

Stand I built is 24", I wanted to keep it shorter as I'm in earthquake country so my strategy was to keep the center of gravity low. Now that its all setup I can see it would take quite an earthquake to knock the tank over. In a quake that big, the real concern is the house falling on the tank...
  6. is there such a thing as to much LR?

Good fish that loves live rock is an orchid dottyback. I have one that darts in and out of the live rock. You can see him going in, out and behind the rocks. He's been a hardy fish. I've been keeping salt water for about 1.5 years and I've had him the whole time. Hard to find in the stores...
  7. My nemesis, the French Angel

Do you have any other fish in the tank with these angels that are dying? You mentioned keeping flames, queens, bicolors, lemons and coral beauties but IMO queens would be the only ones to go in the same boat as a french. The full size sound like a different ball game than the pygmy angels. I...
  8. Multiple Morays

I'm looking at snowflakes. I would get them at the same time and would get similar size. I was watching feeding time at my LFS and they had 2 snowflakes in the same tank. One eel got 2 feeders and the other one didn't get any. I guess it got mad so it bit the other snowflake. Apparently they...

  10. New clown trigger pic

Cool, I'm gonna have to start expanding the variety. I was reading an article on the net awhile back. Some guy was feeding his clown trigger everything from potato salad to chicken. I think I'll start with the seaweed and crab though.
  11. Multiple Morays

Whats the rule of thumb on keeping 2 or more eels together? I have an 80 gallon tank I'm thinking of making into a FO aggresive. Anyone have any good stocking ideas? So far I only have 1 Clown Trigger at 1 inch. I was think about moray eels and Lionfish.

  13. New clown trigger pic

Cool trigger. I just got one about a week ago. He's only about 1 inch but looks exactly like the one in your pic. What are you feeding yours? Right now I'm feeding brine and blood worms but I'm planning to get some crab meat to chop up. Anyone know common places to get raw urchin?
