what are your "go to" fish stores in NYC. There does not seem to be much in Manhattan. I will likely need to go to Queens or Brooklyn. what stores have the largest selection? I am especially looking for a selection of different colors and patterned clowns

Kissena aquarium is very good. great food carts outside; terrible parking. reef aqauctic is nearby havent been there yet but hear good things but also terrible parking,
Thanks I am looking them up now. parking not an issue since I am coming from midtown with no car. I would probably just usually order online, but I want my young son to have the experience of bringing the fish home by himself.

My 2 go to spots since I live in Queens are Kissena aquarium which I have been going to for over a decade and NY Reef Aquatic. Both are very reasonable and the owners are just top notch when it comes to helping and answering questions.

Manhattan aquariums in LIC is sometimes open to the public via flash open-houses and if you call them they sometimes will let you visit by appointment. Unpredictable whether anyone will answer the phone or respond to your VM or email. If you're looking for that LFS feel though NYRA is the way to go in Queens. Never been to Kissena or KHC as I always thought they were primarily freshwater but I guess I should check them out. There are also some good stores out on LI if you have a car and are willing to travel a little further out. The Aquarium Shop, Reef Shark and Tropical Island aquatic come to mind. Pieces of the Ocean in Staten Island is always worth a visit. There's a place called the Reef Shoppe in the Bronx that is supposed to be well priced but it's unpredictable when they're open and they have virtually no online presence. I've showed up to the store twice during advertised open hours only to find I drove an hour to find a closed store. In Brooklyn you have Mos Reef and Exotic Reef Aquatic which are solid. NYaquatic in Yonkers will have the best deal on fish and have coral as well. You can go to the store or buy online and have uber courier deliver to your home.

New York reef aquatic
Khc aquarium both in queens
Thanks for the recommendations. I called around and only KHC told me they had what I wanted. A standard ocellaris clownfish and a smaller white faced white and black ocellaris clownfish. I went over there. I like that store and Jerry the owner was really nice and helpful. They had lots of good stock IMO.

I went to KHC tonight and was pretty impressed. its a small dingy basement place packed with everything you could want. The owner Jerry was really nice and helpful. I picked up 2 clowns exactly the style I was planning on, some snails, some hermit crabs. I made a quick video running through some of the salt water tanks. decent selection IMO. I am a noob they had what I wanted. I have been doing a ton of research the last 4 months so I can tell they have advanced stuff too. check out the quick vid.
